Event Marketing

Madison Parks staff organizes many events open to the community, including Movies in the Park, public input sessions, and volunteer cleanups. Promoting these events effectively is crucial for participation.

The Parks' website event calendar is a primary source for event information. Depending on the event's purpose, we may also use promotions such as news releases, flyers, posters, postcards, Facebook events, blog posts, banners and more.

How to Submit an Event Marketing Request

  1. Open a new email to Parks PIO, ashea@cityofmadison.com
  2. Add subject as Event Marketing Request XXXX (name of event)
  3. Answer the questions - Who, Where, When, Why and How
  • Who?

Who is the intended audience? Is this event for a specific neighborhood? What age range is appropriate for this event?

  • Where?

Where will this event be held -- include the address of the park or identifying landmarks such as "meet near the park identification sign." Is this an indoor or outdoor event?

  • When?

When will the event be held -- be sure to include the day of the week, and start and end times.

  • Why?

What is the purpose of this event? What should attendees or participants expect by attending? Detail any organizations or partners.

  • How?

How can people attend? Do they need to register in advance? If so, how? Include registration link, email and/or phone number -- ideally, at least two of the three methods.
