Buckeye will be open to through traffic by the end of the day on May 15
The Buckeye Road reconstruction will resume the week of April 27, 2020 with retaining wall work, grass seed placement, and miscellnaneous warranty work. The contractor will close Buckeye Road to through traffic starting on May 1 to complete the colored & stamped concrete work within the medians, to place the final asphalt surface (Morningside Avenue to Stoughton Road), and to install permanent pavement marking (Lakeview Avenue to Stoughton Road). Buckeye Rd. will be re-opened by the end of the day on May 15. Prior to the closure, the contractor will add more road-closed barricades at each end of the project to alert traffic of the closure and of the construction area ahead. The detour and road-closed signs will remain in place until all work is complete, and Metro buses will be also be detoured off of Buckeye during the two-week closure.
The section from Monona Drive to Lakeview Avenue is complete.
The project will be completed by mid-June 2020.

Design 2015 – 2018
Buckeye Road will be reconstructed from Monona Drive to Stoughton Road. The project includes new asphalt pavement, on-street bike lanes in both directions will be added, parking lanes will be added in certain areas, spot replacement on sidewalk on the north side of street, sidewalk will be added to south side of street where it does not exist currently, curb ramp for accessing sidewalks will be improved, pedestrian activated flashing yellow lights on Buckeye Road along Frank Allis Elementary between Jerome Street and Davies Street will be added, pedestrian activated flashing yellow lights at the intersection of Buckeye Road, Maher Avenue will be added, street lighting will be added to the entire length of the project, new retaining walls will replace existing walls, sanitary sewer main will be replaced for entire length of project, existing water main from Spaanem Avenue to S. Stoughton Road will be replaced, and storm sewer will be added to entire length of street.
