Dairy Dr Campground Demolition and Site Restoration

Project Overview

In 2021, the City of Madison Common Council authorized a state of emergency and a temporary campground to be prepared at 3202 Dairy Drive.  Funding for the creation and operation of the temporary campground was provided through the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).  As those funds have expired, the temporary campground will be closed on Sept. 30, 2025 and City Engineering has been asked by the Community Development Division to demolish the pallet shelters and bathroom building, remove site improvements and restore the site with grading and reseeding of the parcel.  The site includes a bathroom/office building, (29) shelters and site improvements including an asphalt fire lane with street pole lighting, a grill/picnic area, bike parking, a trash enclosure and perimeter fencing.  

City Engineering plans to work with City agencies who helped provide items during the creation of the campground, including Traffic Engineering, Parks and Engineering, to remove and repurpose items such as the street light poles, picnic tables and outdoor grills, bike racks, and misc. electrical items.  City Engineering is also planning to auction other items, such as the fence enclosure, shelters and the bathroom building.
