July 2, 2026 Update

Quarter 3 2026 Update
The predesign phase began in April 2026 that includes space programming and preliminary site planning. Ongoing work during the predesign phase includes space needs analysis and programming, conceptual test fit studies to determine the size and location of each department function, room data sheets to establish room design requirements, and preparation of preliminary site plan drawings. This phase will define the general size and location of the proposed building on the site. Completion of the predesign phase is planned around the end of August 2026. The next schematic design phase is currently planned to begin in September and run through January 2027.

Project Overview

The project will collocate the South District Police and Police Property and Evidence Facility at the site of the former Town of Madison Town Hall site.  The program will incorporate several Madison Police Department functions including the relocation of the existing South District Police at Hughes Place to make space for future development, as well as consolidation of Police Property and Evidence and Storage Operations from four separate locations into one location.

April 6, 2026 Update

Quarter 2 2026 Update
Candidate interviews for Architect and Engineering (A/E) design services have been completed. Engberg Anderson Architects is the selected design firm. The A/E contract approvals are in final review and approvals. The predesign phase is planned to begin in April 2026 that will include space programming and preliminary site planning. Completion of the predesign phase is planned in August 2026.

January 7, 2026 Update

Quarter 1 2026 Update
RFP #14030-0-2025-BP Proposals for A/E consulting and design services have been received and evaluated by the review panel for the South District Police Station and Property & Evidence Storage Facility project. Candidate interviews are scheduled in mid-January 2026.  Final candidate selection and award is planned to be completed by the end of February. Design is scheduled to begin in March or April of 2026.

October 8, 2025 Update

Quarter 4 2025 Update
RFP #14030-0-2025-BP Proposals for A/E consulting and design services have been received by the due date of September 19, 2025 for the South District Police Station and Property & Evidence Storage Facility project. The A/E proposals are currently under review by the City evaluation team. Design is scheduled to begin in January or February 2026.
