August 13, 2026 Update
The Transportation Commission (TC) approved the geometry for Milwaukee St from Starkweather Creek to W Corporate Dr at the August 12 meeting.

Next steps: Preliminary assessments will be mailed on August 28 to residents within the project limits. The design team will attend and present the project to the Board of Public Works on September 9, 2026.
Members of the public are encouraged to watch, register in support/opposition, speak (3 minutes), and/or submit written comments. You can send an email to boardofpublicworks@cityofmadison.com to voice your opinion for the project.

If you register to speak, make sure the name you display in Zoom matches the name you registered under so staff know who to unmute when it's your turn. BPW meetings start at 4:30 pm and an individual project review starts based on its placement on the agenda. Public hearings start at 5:30 pm (or when the items under discussion at 5:30 pm finishes) and you can join at any time.

Project Overview
The City is planning to reconstruct Milwaukee Street (Starweather Creek to W Corporate Drive).
The project includes the replacement of sanitary sewer and laterals, water main, curb and gutter, gravel base, asphalt pavement, pavement marking, and signs. The storm sewer system and sidewalk will be spot replaced as needed. The curb ramps will be replaced at intersections to provide better access to pedestrians crossing the street.
The project will also include the installation of a new shared used path on the north side of Milwaukee Street.
