
Funding Programs
The Greater Madison MPO oversees four key funding programs to support regional transportation improvements:
- Surface Transportation Block Grant – Urban (STBG-U) – Provides flexible funding for roadway, transit, bicycle, and pedestrian infrastructure improvements that enhance mobility and connectivity in urban areas.
Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) – Supports projects that enhance non-motorized transportation, including pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, and Safe Routes to School plans and programs.
- Section 5310 – Enhanced Mobility of Seniors & Individuals with Disabilities – Provides funding for transportation services and capital projects that improve mobility for seniors and individuals with disabilities.
- Carbon Reduction Program (CRP) – Funds projects that reduce transportation-related emissions, such as investments in electric vehicle infrastructure, public transit improvements, and active transportation projects.
