The Greater Madison MPO coordinates transportation planning for the region. Our goal is to balance roadway, public transit, bicycle, pedestrian, and other transportation needs to achieve an exceptional quality of life for all in the Greater Madison area.
Coming Soon: RoundTrip Spring Roll Challenge
Every Earth Month, RoundTrip Greater Madison hosts the Spring Roll Challenge—inviting people across Dane County to swap solo drives for biking, transit, walking, rolling, or carpooling. This year, we're aiming for 10,000 car-free and carpool trips.
Anyone 18+ can join by creating a free RoundTrip account and logging trips from April 1–30. It's a simple, free way to make an impact—and you'll be entered into 35+ prize drawings along the way. The first 50 participants to log a green trip will also receive a free slice from Ian's Pizza and two Metro Transit rides.
Public Comment Period Extended: Draft Active Transportation Plan
The MPO's Active Transportation Plan will help shape the future of biking and walking/rolling across our region. It outlines strategies and provides guidance for planners and decision-makers working to design safer, more connected streets, sidewalks, and paths.
More than 3,000 community members shared feedback that helped shape the draft plan, now available on our Biking & Walking webpage.
The public comment period for the draft plan has been extended—submit your feedback through Monday, April 13.
