Transportation Planning
Transportation planning is all about making it easier, safer, and more convenient to get around — whether you’re walking, biking, taking the bus, driving, or using any other kind of mobility device. It’s a process that looks at our current transportation system, predicts what we’ll need as our region grows, and identifies ways to improve how people travel.
At the MPO, we focus on regional transportation planning. We work with local communities, transit agencies, and other partners to build a transportation system that serves the entire region. This ensures that bike lanes, roads, and transit options connect smoothly across municipal borders and that funding is spent wisely.
We focus on a range of important areas like planning for electric vehicle charging stations, making it easier and safer to walk and bike (active transportation), expanding and improving public transit, increasing roadway safety, and providing transportation options for older adults and people with disabilities.
