Project Overview

The City of Madison Engineering Division will reconstruct Pflaum Road from the Stoughton Road Frontage Road to Monona Drive. The project includes removing and replacing the existing asphalt pavement and road base, and adding a new 10-foot-wide grade-separated shared-use path along the north side of the road. This path will extend the entire length of the project and connect with the existing path along Monona Drive.

Additional work includes replacing the sanitary sewer main and laterals,
water main and laterals, storm sewer, curb and gutter, sidewalk, and drive aprons as needed. MG&E will also replace the gas main prior to the start of street reconstruction.

April 25, 2025 Update

City Engineering is currently evaluating new geometric designs for Pflaum Road, which is part of the All Ages and Abilities bike network. As part of this project, we’re exploring opportunities to improve bicycle facilities along the route and make it safer and more accessible for all users. Once the geometric review is complete, we will host another Public Information Meeting (PIM) to share the findings and gather community feedback. The proposed changes will also be presented to the Transportation Commission (TC) for discussion and feedback.
