Keep signs off terrace; 113 Ely Place lot division appeal at Council 8/4; Camp Randall concert 7/19; Lots of events & announcements!
postedHello neighbors,
Reminder that, even though we may be responsible for the upkeep of our property's terrace, that area is city property. No signs are allowed on city property, therefore if you have a sign on your terrace – even a city “20 is plenty" sign - if Building Inspection happens to be in the neighborhood, they will remove those signs. You can place signs just inside the sidewalk, and they will still be visible to passing cars in most cases.
The appeal of the Landmarks Commission decision on 113 Ely Place will be introduced at the next Common Council meeting on 7/21, and then heard at the following Council meeting on 8/4. At the 7/21 meeting, the item will merely be introduced without debate, and all public comments will be taken at the 8/4 meeting. You may send messages to all alders in advance of the 8/4 meeting, and register to speak for up to 3 minutes. If you want to show slides as you speak to Council, you will have to send those slides to the Clerk's office in advance.
I want to thank all of the neighbors who came together last week to talk with me about your questions and concerns regarding the potential lot division at this property, and show me the challenges of the site. I learned a lot from all of you, and will be able to have a much deeper conversation with the City Attorney's office and Planning staff as a result. I appreciate you taking the time with me!
Reminder that Camp Randall will host the AC/DC concert on Sunday, July 19. Doors open at 5pm, and the concert will conclude no later than 11pm. Due to the large numbers of pedestrians using Breese Terrace before and after the event, no vehicle traffic will be allowed on Breese Terrace from 90 minutes before until 1 hour after the concert. Please recognize the overall impact this concert will have on the neighborhood, and plan accordingly.
