Allied–Carling Systematic Inspections (2023–2026)

The Allied–Carling area was selected for Systematic Inspections based on the results of a Blight Study conducted by an independent firm.

Project Timeline:

  • 2022–2023: Allied–Carling proposed for inspection. Building Inspection reviewed the request and defined objectives, scope, and feasibility.
  • 2023: Building Inspection hired an independent firm to assess the area using a “Blight Study”
  • May 2023: “Blight Study” completed.
  • June 2023: Study results presented to Building Inspection, confirming signs of “blight”.
  • Sept 29, 2023: City staff and Alder Figueroa-Cole met with tenants.
  • Nov 20, 2023: City staff and Alder Figueroa-Cole met with housing providers.
  • Nov–Dec 2023: First communication sent to some property owners. Initial Systematic Inspection letters sent in December.
  • Jan 2024: Programmed inspections began.
