Badger Lane Lift Station Replacement
October 28, 2025 Update
The new lift station design and site layout, completed by the City’s design consultant on the project (MSA Consulting Inc.), are nearing finalization. The City and the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District are in the process of reviewing the 90% design drawings/report and providing comment.
With design being near complete, the City intends to schedule a Public Information Meeting (PIM) to provide the public more information about the project background, project limits, utility installation, construction timeline, & how the project will impact residents on or around the project limits. Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity to discuss the project and ask questions.
A public information meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m., Nov. 18, 2025, via Zoom. Registration prior is required.

Project Information
Project Overview
This project will replace the existing Badger Lane Lift Station located at the intersection of Nob Hill Road and Badger Lane. Ownership of this lift station was transferred to the City after annexation of the Town of Madison.
The existing dry-wet well facility will be replaced with a pre-fabricated submersible wet well style facility. In addition, the site layout will be re-oriented to allow operations staff better access to the lift station and its electrical controls for routine maintenance and in case of emergencies.
Along with the lift station, this project also includes include replacement of the existing the 8” cast iron forcemain running south on Badger Lane that is connected to the lift station (~350’ replacement). Replacement of this forcemain is expected to be completed using trenchless methods.

March 27, 2025 Update
Lift station design is in the early stages with coordination underway between the project’s design consultant (MSA Consulting Inc.), City Engineering, and staff from the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District. A public information meeting (PIM) for this project will be scheduled in the coming weeks once the lift station design and site layout are further along.
