Contractors – Bus Rapid Transit

Madison’s East-West Bus Rapid Transit is a roughly $190 million project (with buses) that will span from Junction Road and Mineral Point Road, through downtown, and out to Sun Prairie.  The project includes constructing running way (bus lanes), constructing 32 station pairs, as well as traditional civil work. 

The City of Madison will be advertising for bid several Bus Rapid Transit projects in the coming months.

These contracts are federally funded.  They will have a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) requirement, Buy America requirements, and other federal reporting requirements.

Prequalification

All submitting prime contractors must be prequalified in either Category B - 310 Street Construction, or Category B - 425 General Building Construction over $1,500,000, at the time of the bid date.  Becoming prequalified can take several weeks or more. Contractors are encouraged to begin the prequalification process early. Information regarding prequalification can be found at How To Get Prequalified. An Affirmative Action Plan is part of the prequalification process and must be approved prior to bid submittal.
