September 24, 2025 Update

The City will mail project assessments on September 26 in advance of the October 8 Board of Public Works (BPW) public hearing, where the plans, specifications, and assessments will be considered for approval. Property owners are encouraged to attend and register to share their input.

Following BPW approval, the Common Council will hold a public hearing to approve the same items. Property owners are again encouraged to attend and provide their feedback.

The design team has completed 90% of the project design and is currently coordinating with utility providers, including MG&E, etc. Final plans are due by November 1, 2025 to WisDOT and the City. Approval of the Design Study Report and the Traffic Management Plan is complete.

Contractor bidding is scheduled to begin on February 1, 2026, with construction anticipated to start in April 2026 and be completed in June 2027. A public meeting to review the construction schedule and sequencing will be held after the contractor is selected but prior to the start of construction.

Project Information

Project Overview

Mineral Point Road consists of reconstructing the concrete pavement and base course from the eastern Beltline Ramps to S. High Point Road. The project will include spot replacements of the existing curb and gutter and sidewalk. Improvements includes safety enhancements at Tree Lane/Big Sky Drive and S. High Point Road intersections. There will be a large box culvert installation on Mineral Point Road from Commerce Drive to S. High Point Road and S. High Point Road to the north Greenway Drainage Property. The pavement will be replaced on Mineral Point Road from Commerce Drive to the eastern Beltline Ramps and on S. High Point Road from Mineral Point Road to the north Greenway Drainage Property. Spot replacements of existing street lighting is also included with the project. The shared-use path along the north side of Mineral Point Road will remain as well as the BRT station on the east side of the S. High Point Intersection.

August 6, 2025 Update

Final plans are due by November 1, 2025. Approval of the Design Study Report and the Traffic Management Plan is still pending.

April 23, 2025 Update

The design team is working toward a 75% design and utility coordination in the of spring 2025. The Design Study Report and Traffic Management Plan approval is pending. The Transportation Project Plat was approved by the Board of Public Works and Common Council. The final design and Contractor bidding will be completed in late Fall of 2025. Construction is scheduled spring of 2026 through mid-summer 2027.

March 18, 2025 Update

The design team has completed 60% design and is working toward a 75% design and utility coordination in the of spring 2025. The Transportation Commission, Board of Public Works, and Common Council approved the geometry for the project on February 19, 2025, March 26, 2025, and March 11, 2025, respectively. The Environmental Document has been approved. The Design Study Report and Traffic Management Plan approval is pending. Soil borings within the street have completed. The design is working on the Transportation Project Plat for the north drainageway along S. High Point Road. The Plat will seek Board of Public Works and Common Council approval in April 2025. The final design and Contractor bidding will be completed in Fall of 2025. Construction is scheduled spring of 2026 through mid-summer 2027.

December 17, 2024 Update

The design team is working toward 60% design as well as the Environmental Document, Design Study Report, and Traffic Management Plan. The design team is also working with a soil contractor to obtain more soil boring information to assist with design and construction of the storm sewer system that will be installed. Soil boring work within the street is anticipated in December and January 2025 with short-term lane closures along eastbound Mineral Pt Road from Commerce Drive to High Point Road and High Point Road from Mineral Point Road to the north drainage property.
