Bike Buddies

Two people biking

New to bike commuting and looking for someone to show you to the ropes? Or maybe you’re an experienced bicycle commuter excited to help others gain confidence? The RoundTrip Bike Buddies program is here to help!

Bike Buddies connects experienced bike commuters in Dane County with new and curious riders who have similar routes. Whether you’re looking for someone to ride with or are happy to share your tips and tricks, we’re here to support the connections that make commuting by bike more accessible, satisfying, and fun for all.

For Experienced Bikers

If you regularly commute by bike and want to spread the joy by helping others get started, join the Bike Buddies network in RoundTrip. When someone with a similar route matches with you using RoundTrip’s Bikepool matching feature, your profile will be marked as a possible “Bike Buddy.”

Being a Bike Buddy does not mean you’re committing to regular rides—many new riders are simply looking for route advice, safety tips, or a one-time test-ride with a knowledgeable partner to learn the basics.

By participating in Bike Buddies, you can help others feel confident making bicycling part of their commute routine, and play a role in expanding the bike community in Dane County.

For New Riders

If you’re interested in bike commuting but aren’t sure where to start, the Bike Buddies program can help!

After you register with RoundTrip, visit the Commute Hub and search for “Bikepool” matches. You’ll be matched with nearby riders who have similar routes—look for matches with “Bike Buddy” listed in their profile to find experienced riders who are happy to help.

Reach out to your Bike Buddy to ask for tips, talk through questions or concerns, or plan a one-time test ride of your route together. The goal is to give you the confidence and support you need to make biking an easy and enjoyable part of your commute routine!
