Motorcycle Moped Permit General Information

General Program Information

• The permit year begins on April 1 and concludes on March 31.
• Cost is $325 for the Annual Permit.  
• Fees are not prorated or refunded if you begin the program after April 1, or end your participation prior to March 31.

Multiple Cycles

If you have multiple motorcycles or mopeds and would like the flexibility to use both during your permit year, a $2.00 duplicate permit sticker can be purchased for the additional cycle.  Either cycle will be permitted to use the reserved cycle stalls at your designated location. Please note that only one cycle can be parked in a facility using the permit at one time. 

Renewals

If you wish to continue parking your motorcycle or moped in a designated City-operated facility, your application and payment for the next year is due by March 31. Once that date has passed, your space will be offered to the next person on the waiting list.

Ending your Permit

Permits are not transferable. If you discontinue renting, the permit will be offered to the next eligible person on the waiting list in Parking Division’s records. Notify the Parking Division at 608-266-4761 if you would like to discontinue renting a space.

Permit Display

Permit sticker must be “permanently” affixed to front fork of motorcycle or moped and/or in a location that can be easily seen by enforcement personnel.

*Placement is not recommended on painted areas to avoid peeling or chipping.

Parking Locations and Hours of Operation

Refer to the map on the sheet provided with your permit to locate motorcycle/moped parking areas in your selected garage location.

Cycle stalls are not assigned to specific permit numbers. You may park in any vacant, reserved stall designated by a yellow hooded parking meter or "Permit Parking Only" sign in the motorcycle/moped parking area.

• Your permit is only valid for the garage specified on your permit
• You must walk your motorcycle/moped over sidewalks and pedestrian areas
• Annual motorcycle/moped parking permits are valid 24 hours, 7 days a week. in permit designated stalls.

Please keep in mind: garages are not intended for long-term storage for any vehicles, including motorcycles and mopeds. All parking areas are monitored for use and longevity of parked vehicles.

Cycle Stalls are Full?

If there are no reserved stalls vacant, park your cycle in the nearest on or off-street metered stall. You do not need to put money in the meter, but you must abide by any posted restrictions in the garage or on-street.

Immediately notify the Parking Division at 608-266-4761.  Be prepared to share the space number you have occupied.  

Termination or Changes to Permit by City Staff

The Parking Division may terminate or amend this rental unilaterally by giving 30-day notice. We reserve the right to temporarily or permanently reassign any permit holder due to maintenance, construction or parking space/structure reorganization. 

Inappropriate Behavior

Individuals and vehicles not following these guidelines will be subject to ticketing and/or towing or revocation of permit:

• Any person engaging in conduct that violates state or federal law or City ordinances, including causing any damage to Parking Utility property or the property of another while on premises owned by the Parking Division may result in the immediate deactivation and revocation of the permit holder’s access.
• Any person who knowingly allows his/her permit to be used in violation of these regulations shall have such permit revoked and shall be ineligible for a permit for any vehicle for a period of one year.
• An appeal of this decision can be made within 10 days to Parking Division.
• The Parking Division reserves the right to revoke any permit issued for nonpayment or returned checks.
