North CPT, Neighborhood Officers and Patrol Officers had the opportunity to participate in four community events on Saturday, August 20th. The events included "100 Black Men" backpack giveaway at Demetral Field. Organizers handed out backpacks with school supplies to local children. Others distributed reading material, educational resources and fun activity packets. The second event was the "50th Anniversary" for Straubel/Truax neighborhood. Organizers had food, games, bouncy houses, and a DJ to celebrate the day. The last two events included neighborhood picnics at both the Northport Apartments and Packer Townhomes. Officers had the opportunity to interact with residents, share a meal and enjoy fun and games with the neighborhood children.
