STBG–Urban & TAP Projects Summary
The Greater Madison MPO administers federal funding for transportation projects across the region. Two of these programs—the Surface Transportation Block Grant–Urban (STBG–Urban) and Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP)—provide funding for roadway, transit, bicycle, pedestrian, and other transportation improvements.
- Surface Transportation Block Grant–Urban (STBG–Urban) provides flexible funding for roadway, transit, bicycle, and pedestrian infrastructure improvements that enhance mobility and connectivity in the Madison Urban Area.
- Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) supports projects that enhance non-motorized transportation, including pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure and Safe Routes to School plans and programs.
Below is a breakdown of STBG–Urban and TAP project funding included in the 2027–2031 Transportation Improvement Program, including federal funding amounts, total construction costs, federal shares, and project notes.
