East Officers Dean Baldukas and Alison Radzicki stopped over at Kennedy Elementary for the recent Read Your Heart Out event. Dean read to several of the classes during his time at the school. Alison stopped by to meet community members participating in the event.
Read Your Heart Out Day is in celebration of National African American Parent Involvement Day (NAAPID). Madison schools are trying to build positive family, community and school relationships. The purpose is to support family engagement and cultural relevance. This event has been happening for 10 years in MMSD elementary schools. All readers read children's literature written by or about African American people and culture.
We thank Principal Nancy for this chance to participate.
