The Burglary Crime Unit reports a recent case in which the suspect gained entry into a residence by cutting the screen to an open window.
With the warmer weather it is common for people to leave windows open. Open windows on the first floor provide a tempting opportunity for a suspect. If you leave your first floor window open at night, think of installing window locks. This will prevent the suspect from pushing the window open past six inches.
Remember to use the window locks if your window has them. After market locks can be installed to older windows and are inexpensive.
