Winter Salt Certification
Purpose
The Winter Salt Certification Program trains municipal and private salt applicators on decreasing their salt use while keeping roads and walkways safe.
City Engineering manages the program with support from WI Salt Wise. Since the program started in 2017, more than 300 applicators have been trained and certified in Dane County.
Road Salt Applicators
Private road salt applicators can learn to balance public safety with responsible salt use by learning proper application rates and techniques.
Certification Training Dates
Salt certification trainings are listed on the WiSaltwise Events page.
Property Owners
If you hire winter maintenance crews, check your company’s certification status. Encourage your company to get certified!
