Competency Definition: The process of deciding what you want to achieve and the why/purpose behind those goals, while also determining how to allocate resources and maximize impact through people to achieve those objectives.
It's important to build this competency because...
Intentional discussion, design, and/or implementation of a plan of action that helps us to achieve major aims. Building this competency enables better decision-making and efficient resource allocation to achieve goals in a timely and cost-effective manner. This is important because it provides direction and focus aligned to our organization’s Vision, Mission, Values, and Service Promise (V/M/V/SP).
- Self-Benefits: Understand how our unique individual contributions support collective movement toward our organization’s V/M/V/SP.
- Organizational Benefits: Clear strategics align people, policies, and resources to advance Mayoral and agency priorities. This increases the likelihood of collective aims being achieved in alignment with our organization’s V/M/V/SP.
