Course Description:
Public entities are required to ensure all services, programs, and activities are readily accessible to and usable for people with disabilities. As part of Madison's revitalization of the ADA Transition Plan, this training is offered to support agencies to learn more about their legal obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act and to remove access barriers in their programs, services, and activities.Attendees will learn about the requirements for program access, the reasonable accommodation process, effective communication obligations, and how to better serve residents with disabilities.

Course Description:
Access to Independence training session for City of Madison engineering and facilities staff. The purpose of this training is to support staff in applying the ADA Checklist to facilities during new construction, remodels, and space buildouts.The training will:
- Contextualize the ADA Checklist by highlighting its role in compliance and proactive planning, and by connecting its requirements to real-world usability and human impact
- Highlight practical strategies to prevent accessibility barriers before they become costly to correct
- Emphasize universal design principles to complement ADA requirements
- Provide context on usability and disability-informed perspectives to strengthen staff understanding of why various checklist items matter
- Incorporate real-world examples, including prerecorded site walk-through footage, to illustrate common issues and solutions

Course Description:
To ensure the City maintains compliance with recently released ADA requirements, this course introduces learners to basic digital accessibility principles and how-to guidance for making digital documents accessible.Staff who create publicly available digital documents and/or communications should review.

Course Description: Learn how to connect with an On-Demand interpreter, inclusive practices in working with interpreters, and participate in scenarios to practice learned skills, including communicating with people who use sign languages. Also discussed is the City of Madison's Language Access Program, services, and compliance requirements.

Course Description:
Did you know that Wisconsin provides greater protections for people who use service animals than the Americans with Disabilities Act? Do you know the difference between a service animal and an emotional support animal? In this session you will learn how to treat people who use service and support animals with dignity and respect while complying with the law. We will explore how to navigate real-world challenges like addressing service animal fraud and best practices for serving people with conflicting access needs.This training is recommended for anyone who interacts with the public.
