Yesterday there were two separate shootings in the south district in which people were injured and innocent, occupied homes were sprayed by gunfire. As people were fleeing, Officers raced in to help victims, to investigate and to restore order. With all that is going on regarding police, these brave officers managed two chaotic scenes in one shift. It is worth noting in this post that Officers report being waved to, greeted and appreciated in these tense, violent scenes. Something so simple as a wave of "hello" and appreciation lifted the spirits of some officers during a busy shift. There is a palpable pride in living or working in the South District that has been built year after year within our community. Let's ALL work hard to maintain and then enhance that pride for everyone. Everyone.
