Fireside Five-Oh comes to the South District

March 31, 2016 3:46 PM

South District officers enjoyed attending our first "Fireside Five-Oh" chat last night at a home on Keyes Avenue.  Thank you again to our hosts and to everyone who attended!

What is a "Fireside Five-Oh"?  "Fireside Five-Oh" is a lot of is a chat, a party, a conversation and a place of common ground.  Mostly, it's a chance to get together to meet friends, neighbors and the local cops who work in your neighborhood.

At a "Fireside Five-Oh", you can talk about whatever is on your mind!  Maybe it's a specific neighborhood concern or a curiosity about the men and women who choose to be Madison police officers.  There is never a shortage of questions when it comes to policing!

You can invite anyone to a "Fireside Five-Oh".  Your friends, family and neighbors are all welcome!  One or two officers – the cops who work directly in your neighborhood also attend.  A group of 8 to 14 guests plus the officers seems to work best.

The "Fireside Five-Oh" is held at your house because that is your turf – not ours.  The idea is to make your guests feel at ease and to promote a more informal and meaningful conversation!  If you are interested in hosting a "Fireside Five-Oh" or would like to learn more about the program, please contact your patrol liaison or the South District at 266-5938.  You can also email me directly.  Below is a picture from last night's "Fireside Five-Oh".
