On 03/12/20, at 8:30 am, one of our TEST officers was working the Midvale Elementary School Zone. The crossing guard had traffic stopped for kids to cross. Upon releasing traffic, and traffic one again began to flow, a subject opted to use the parking/bike lane to accelerate past the main traffic lanes.
The TEST officer made a traffic stop and the driver was ultimately arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI). A Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) also completed an examination as driver's impairment was believed to be drug related. A number of other citations were issued along with the OWI charges.
Our TEST unit has 1 sergeant and 5 officers assigned to the unit. TEST is a city wide resources that liaison to the districts. We can't thank "our" TEST officer enough for the time he spends in our district!
