The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 04/17/2023 through 6:00 a.m. on 04/18/2023, MPD received 360 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (80),East (77), Midtown (52), North (54), South (36), West (45), and Other (16). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Priority calls only from 10:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 1:38 p.m. to. 3:31 p.m. due to calls for service.

WEST: Stolen Auto – 5:56 a.m. A vehicle was reported stolen. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.

EAST: Death Investigation – 9:45 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (88-year-old female). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.

NORTH: Death Investigation – 10:23 a.m. Officers responded to an assisted living facility for a deceased subject (80-year-old female). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.

CENTRAL: Check Person – 11:17 a.m. Officers received a request to take a subject into protective custody under a Chapter 51 return. The subject was located and conveyed to a local hospital. Final outcome pending.

WEST: PNB Response – 12:02 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing child. Lifesaving measures attempted and the child was conveyed to a local hospital. Investigation continuing.

CENTRAL: Check Person – 12:12 p.m. A subject was taken into protective custody under a Chapter 51 return. The subject was conveyed to a local facility. Officers disengaged.

MIDTOWN: Check Person – 12:46 p.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. Attempt to locate aired. Phone ping attempted. The subject was contacted and conveyed to a local hospital. The subject was voluntarily admitted and officers disengaged.

SOUTH: Weapons Offense – 1:33 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a caller who stated he had shot and killed his wife and was holding their son hostage. A lot of resources went into this call to determine who made the call, who resided at the residence, etc. The caller demanded money and a helicopter. Officers responded in a swift manner, created a perimeter and put together contact teams. Two subjects in the home were ultimately contacted and came out of the home. The residence was cleared with no indication of any issues.  The subjects did not know who would have called or why. 

NORTH: Crash – 1:54 p.m. Officers responded to a vehicle vs. house crash. The driver reported they inadvertently put the vehicle in drive instead of reverse. No injuries reported. No structural damage to the building.  

MIDTOWN: Sexual Assault of a Child – 3:12 p.m. A parent reported her child being sexually assaulted by another minor. Investigation continuing.

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 5:03 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 23-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic battery and domestic disorderly conduct.

CENTRAL: Intoxicated Driver – 11:10 p.m. A traffic stop was conducted and the 36-year-old male driver was found to be impaired. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense), resisting and cited for speed.

Priority calls only started at 5:26 a.m. and remains at the time of this writing due to calls for service.  

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 12:42 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 40-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and intimidation of a witness.

NORTH: Adult Arrested Person – 2:40 a.m. A traffic stop was conducted and the 40-year-old male subject attempted to flee on foot. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent, resisting, battery to law enforcement and outstanding warrants.

EAST: Residential Burglary – 3:27 a.m. A 30-year-old male subject caused a disturbance and entered a residence that he does not live at. The subject was arrested for burglary, disorderly conduct, battery and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Testing on white powder found being conducted so additional charges may be forthcoming.
