The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 4/5/2024 through 6:00 a.m. on 4/8/2024, MPD received 1,247 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (237),East (223), Midtown (190), North (219), South (142), West (198), and Other (38). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

CITY-WIDE: Missing Juvenile – 12:49 a.m. Officers contacted by Lisle Police Department in Illinois about a missing juvenile who was not brought home to their father by the mother. It was believed that the mother and child were on their way to the Dells. Attempt to locate aired. The mother/juvenile located. Lisle PD came to Madison to proceed with their case/investigation.

EAST: Drug Incident – 10:30 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (34-year-old male). Naloxone administered which was successful. The subject was transported to a local hospital. Charges may be forthcoming.

NORTH: Death Investigation – 12:00 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (63-year-old male). Lifesaving measures attempted but not successful. Medical Examiner's office responded. Decedent has a history of medical/health concerns. Nothing suspicious identified.

SOUTH: Check Property – 12:18 p.m. Officers responded to a residence for damage located that was consistent with bullet holes. Investigator responded to document the damage. No bullet/casing located. Investigation continuing.

EAST: Death Investigation – 12:42 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (50-year-old male). Medical Examiner's office responded. Investigation continuing.

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 4:03 p.m. Officers received information pertaining to 3 separate domestic violence incidents involving a 23-year-old male subject (remains at-large). Probable cause developed to arrest the subject once he is located.

CENTRAL: Crash – 5:15 p.m. A driver struck a telephone pole. EMS checked out the subject. No transport required. The driver appeared confused/disoriented. A friend was contacted who came to pick up the driver/subject.

WEST: Violation of a Court Order – 8:26 a.m. A 22-year-old female subject was arrested for violating a court order and resisting.

Priority calls only from 1:46 a.m. to 3:31 a.m. due to calls for service.

EAST: Juvenile Arrest – 12:21 a.m. A 14-year-old male subject was contacted at a bus shelter and found to have a capias. He was also listed as missing/runaway from Milwaukee. The subject was transported to the Juvenile Reception Center.

NORTH: Crash – 12:37 a.m. An officer/squad are rear-ended at an intersection by a 32-year-old male driver/subject. The subject was found to be impaired. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing injury (1st offense).

CENTRAL: Check Person – 1:28 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a subject kicking on a residential door (not theirs). The subject was located with no shoes and highly intoxicated. The subject was taken into protective custody and conveyed to a local hospital. Investigation continuing.

NORTH: Sexual Assault – 1:45 a.m. Officers responded to a 911 disconnect call. Contact made with a victim who reported unwanted sexual activities with a 52-year-old male subject. The subject was contacted and arrested on a probation hold. Investigation continuing on whether or not additional charges are applicable.

CENTRAL: Stolen Auto – 2:30 a.m. Several juveniles are observed on video smashing out a window to a vehicle in a parking ramp and attempting to steal it. The gate arm would not open, so the vehicle was left. The juveniles are later observed on State Street. Officers responded and detained 5 juveniles. A 14-year-old male and 13-year-old female were arrested for attempted operating a motor vehicle without consent. A 14-year-old male was recovered as a missing juvenile. The 3 juveniles were transported to the Juvenile Reception Center. The two other juveniles were released on scene. All parents notified.

WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 7:58 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 31-year-old male subject (not on scene). Probable cause developed to arrest the subject once he is located.

NORTH: Death Investigation – 8:08 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (86-year-old male). Lifesaving measures attempted but stopped. Decedent a hospice patient. Medical Examiner's office notified. Nothing suspicious identified.

WEST: Check Person – 9:26 a.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject. The subject was contacted and conveyed to a local hospital for an evaluation. The subject was admitted and officers disengaged.

NORTH: Crash – 11:48 a.m. Officers responded to a vehicle vs. Metro bus crash. Minor injuries sustained. A 55-year-old male driver was cited for failure to yield right of way.

EAST: Check Person – 5:01 p.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. The subject was contacted and transported to a local hospital. The subject was admitted and officers disengaged.

EAST: Crash – 7:49 p.m. Officers responded to a vehicle vs. motorcycle crash. The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. The other driver (48-year-old male) was cited for failure to yield, operating after revocation and no insurance.

MIDTOWN: Liquor Law/Bar Check – 8:59 p.m. Officers conducted an inspection at a bar in the 1300 block of Regent St and identified approximately 160 underage patrons. Citations to be issued.  

CENTRAL: Sexual Assault – 11:57 p.m. Officers received a report of sexual assault with limited information. Investigation continuing.

Priority calls only from 12:25 a.m. to 12:43 a.m. due to calls for service.

NORTH: Death Investigation – 12:22 a.m. Officers responded to a subject (64-year-old male), possibly having a heart attack. Lifesaving measures attempted but not successful. Decedent had a heart attack a few days prior. Nothing suspicious identified.

MIDTOWN: Sexual Assault of a Child – 1:33 a.m. Officers responded to a local hospital for a sexual assault of a child report. Investigation continuing.

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 2:24 a.m. A traffic stop was attempted after the driver (21-year-old male) was observed driving recklessly. The driver/vehicle would not stop. Spikes were deployed, successfully. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense), eluding, and cited for numerous traffic offenses.

CENTRAL: Non-Residential Burglary – 3:17 a.m. Officers responded to a burglary in progress. A 19-year-old male subject was observed fleeing from the business with a cash drawer. The subject was arrested for burglary and criminal damage to property.

NORTH: Adult Arrested Person – 5:18 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a 24-year-old male subject slumped over in a vehicle at an intersection. The subject was contacted and found to be impaired. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence and multiple drug-related offenses.

MIDTOWN: Check Person – 9:00 a.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. The subject was contacted, conveyed to a local hospital and left in the care of medical staff.

WEST: Mental Health Response – 10:27 a.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject. CARES responded and took over the call.

EAST: Mental Health Response – 12:05 p.m. Officers responded to a group home for a subject causing a disturbance. The subject was transported to a local hospital and admitted. Officers disengaged.

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 4:04 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 29-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, battery and strangulation (domestic-related charges).

SOUTH: Disturbance – 4:41 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a disturbance with a victim screaming that their face was bleeding. The victim was contacted and conveyed to a local hospital for stitches. Investigation continuing.

WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 5:15 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 35-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct (2 counts), domestic battery and physical abuse of a child.

SOUTH: Missing Adult – 7:11 p.m. A 36-year-old male subject was reported as missing. Attempt to locate aired. Areas checked. Phone ping attempted. The subject was listed as missing in the appropriate databases.

MIDTOWN: Traffic Incident – 10:24 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a subject riding on the roof of a vehicle and being thrown off. The subject was found to be intoxicated. The subject sustained minor road rash. The subject was found to have a no-contact order with the driver of the vehicle (23-year-old male). Probable cause developed to arrest the subject once he is located.

SOUTH: Adult Arrested Person – 11:17 p.m. Officers responded to a single-vehicle crash. A 35-year-old female driver/subject attempted to flee on foot but could not clear the fence. The subject attempted to hide and then attempted to move the vehicle. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense) and an outstanding warrant.

NORTH: Traffic Stop – 1:14 a.m. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver/subject (27-year-old female) lied two times about her identity. The subject was arrested for 6 outstanding warrants.
