The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 12/02/2022 through 6:00 a.m. on 12/05/2022, MPD received 1,007 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (162), East (208), Midtown (171), North (167), South (105), West (135), and Other (59). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

12/02

MIDTOWN: Stolen Auto – 10:34 a.m.  U-Haul staff reported a cargo van was not returned on the due date.  Attempt to locate aired.  The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.

CENTRAL: Mental Health Conveyance – 11:04 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence where they contacted a subject who was experiencing a mental health crisis.  The subject had made statements threatening family members.  Officers consulted with Journey Mental Health and the subject was placed into protective custody and transported to a mental health facility.

EAST: Fraud – 11:17 a.m.  The victim reported while he was in the parking lot at Walmart, two unidentified suspects approached him asking if he wanted to be involved in a money making deal.  The victim agreed and the suspects wrote him a check which would later be deemed fraudulent.  Officers attempted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle but the vehicle/driver fled from the stop.  Investigation continuing.

NORTH: Disturbance – 9:37 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence where the 64-year-old male suspect was screaming insults and making threatening gestures.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct.

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 10:10 p.m.  The victim reported that during an argument the 35-year-old male suspect punched her in the face.  Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect on charges of domestic substantial battery, disorderly conduct, and false imprisonment.

Priority calls only from 3:30 a.m. to 4:52 a.m. due to calls for service.

EAST: Armed Robbery – 1:09 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence where the victims reported three masked suspects entered the home and pointed a gun at the victims.  The suspects stole a purse.  The victims were familiar with two of the suspects, identified as 25- and 34-year-old males.  The third suspect has yet to be identified.  Investigation continuing.

CENTRAL: Weapons Offense Shots Fired – 2:22 a.m.  Officers responded to the 300 block of N Frances St for multiple reports of shots fired.  Officers located one fired shell casing and one unfired cartridge.  There were no reports of injuries or property damage.

EAST: Check Person – 3:52 a.m.  A subject reported she was walking in the 4700 block of Cottage Grove Rd when a vehicle pulled to the side of the road and an unidentified male subject asked if she wanted a ride.  The female subject got in the car and the male subject grabbed the hood of her jacket.  The female was able to exit the vehicle and the male subject left the scene.  Investigation continuing. 

MIDTOWN: Death Investigation – 12:11 p.m.  Officers and MFD paramedics responded to a residence where an 87-year-old female subject had collapsed.  Lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful.  Nothing suspicious on scene.

NORTH: Death Investigation – 12:50 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence for a subject (63-year-old male) who was not breathing and did not have a pulse.  Lifesaving efforts were attempted but not successful.  Nothing suspicious identified. 

WEST: Missing Adult – 2:14 p.m. A 62-year-old female was reported as missing.  Areas checked. Attempt to locate aired.  The subject was listed as missing in the appropriate databases. Silver Alert activated. 

MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 3:58 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 48-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting and a probation hold. 

CENTRAL: Residential Burglary – 4:39 p.m. An unknown suspect entered a residence and stole electronics and a blanket.  Investigation continuing. 

MIDTOWN: Mental Health Conveyance – 4:48 p.m. A subject was located and taken into custody on a Chapter 51 return.  The subject was conveyed to a local hospital.  Final placement pending. 

EAST: Death Investigation – 6:17 p.m. Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (68-year-old male). Medical Examiner's office responded.  Nothing suspicious identified. 

MIDTOWN: Check Property – 7:12 p.m. Officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the area of Prairie Rd/Jacobs Way.  Areas checked.  No evidence of shots fired located.  No reported injuries or property damage. 

SOUTH: Death Investigation – 10:32 a.m. Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (75-year-old female).  Medical Examiner's office responded.  Nothing suspicious identified. 

CENTRAL: Traffic Arrest – 11:18 p.m. A traffic stop was attempted but the driver/vehicle fled.  MPD did not pursue.  McFarland PD later located/stopped the vehicle.  The driver/suspect (26-year-old male) was arrested for eluding and a variety of traffic offenses.

Priority calls only from 2:43 a.m. to 7:28 a.m. due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 11:31 a.m. to 1:07 p.m. due to call for service. 

Priority calls only from 6:14 p.m. to 10:38 p.m. due to calls for service.

WEST: Check Area – 12:14 a.m. Officers heard shots fired in the area of Watts Rd/Junction Rd.  Areas checked.  No evidence of shots fired located.  No injuries or property damage reported. 

CENTRAL: Weapons Violation – 2:07 a.m. Officers responded to the 300 block of N. Frances St. for a report of a stabbing.  One victim sustained non-life threatening injuries.  A 36-year-old male suspect was arrested for 1st degree reckless endangering safety.  MPD incident report released. 

EAST: Armed Robbery – 5:04 a.m. A victim reported being robbed by a suspect with an axe.  The victim reported being physically assaulted by the suspect and that the suspect fled with his wallet.  The victim was conveyed to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Suspect remains at-large. Investigation continuing. 

CENTRAL: Armed Robbery – 8:58 a.m. A victim reported a suspect attempted to rob him of cash.  The suspect physically assaulted the victim with a hammer.  The suspect fled with no cash. Suspect remains at-large.  Investigation continuing. 

NORTH: Sexual Assault – 10:01 a.m. A victim reported being sexually assaulted.  The suspect is known to the victim.  Investigation continuing.

NORTH: Missing/Runaway Juvenile – 10:05 a.m. A 17-year-old female was reported as missing/runaway.  Attempt to locate aired.  The juvenile was listed as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases. **Juvenile located. 

SOUTH: Assist Police – 2:13 p.m. Officers responded to a fight in progress and potentially shots fired.  Vehicles reportedly fled from the area.  Incident occurred in Fitchburg who ultimately took over as lead on the investigation. 

NORTH: Mental Health Conveyance – 3:45 p.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject.  Journey Mental Health consulted.  The subject was contacted and conveyed to a local hospital voluntarily.  The subject became uncooperative and officers are seeking an emergency detention.  Final outcome/placement pending. 

EAST: Mental Health Conveyance – 4:41 p.m. A suicidal subject was conveyed to a local hospital.  Final transport to a local facility pending. 

EAST: Disturbance – 5:14 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 15-year old male suspect.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and obstructing. 

CENTRAL: Battery – 6:02 p.m. A victim reported being physically assaulted by an unknown subject/suspect.  Suspect remains at-large.  Investigation continuing. 

EAST: Drug Incident – 6:14 p.m. Officers responded to the mall for a report of a subject/suspect (46-year-old male) experiencing a drug overdose.  The suspect was transported to a local hospital and issued two order-in's for possession of narcotics and felony bail jumping. 

SOUTH: Disturbance – 6:28 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a 40-year-old male suspect threatening people with a knife.  The suspect was arrested for 2nd degree reckless endangering safety. 

CENTRAL: Disturbance – 7:57 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 39-year-old female suspect.  The suspect was arrested for resisting, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony bail jumping (3 counts) and misdemeanor bail jumping (4 counts).

CENTRAL: Disturbance – 8:53 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 23-year-old male suspect armed with a knife.  The suspect was conveyed to a local hospital.  Journey Mental Health consulted.  The suspect was arrested and transported to jail for disorderly conduct while armed, resisting and attempted battery to law enforcement. 

EAST: Aggravated/Substantial Battery – 10:08 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 37-year-old female suspect.  The suspect was arrested for substantial domestic battery and disorderly conduct. 

12/05

WEST: Fatal Crash – 1:22 a.m. Officers responded to the intersection of S. Pleasant View Rd/Flagstone Drive for a report vehicle fully engulfed in flames.  Driver deceased.  Medical Examiner's office responded.  Investigation continuing.
