The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Tuesday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 09/02/2022 through 6:00 a.m. on 09/06/2022, MPD received 1,667 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (421), East (318), Midtown (276), North (255), South (133), West (204), and Other (60). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

09/02

CENTRAL: Traffic Stop – 6:34 a.m.  An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling at excessive speeds on John Nolen Dr.  Officers determined that the suspect (43-year-old male) had active warrants.  The suspect was arrested and conveyed to jail.

MIDTOWN: Adult Arrested Person – 7:14 a.m.  Officers made contact with a wanted suspect (51-year-old male) who was arrested and conveyed to jail.

WEST: Trespass – 7:37 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence and located a suspect (34-year-old female) who was banned from the premises.  The suspect was arrested for trespass.

EAST: Death Investigation – 9:30 a.m.  Officers responded to a hotel room where the subject (54-year-old male) was found deceased.  Nothing suspicious on scene.

WEST:  Mental Health Conveyance – 12:43 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence for a report of a suicidal subject.  The subject was voluntarily transported to a hospital and admitted.

CENTRAL: Fight Call – 3:22 p.m.  Officers responded to Williamson St and Few St for a report of people fighting in the intersection.  Witnesses reported that the suspect (26-year-old male) was armed at one point with a brick and battered the victim.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed, possession of paraphernalia and bail jumping.

MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 4:23 p.m.  Officers responded to a business parking lot for a report of a male and female fighting.  Neither involved party was cooperative with police.  The 21-year-old male suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting.

EAST: Check Person – 4:30 p.m.  Officers made contact at a residence for a report of a suicidal subject that had left the area in a vehicle.  Officers briefly made phone contact with the subject who did not reveal his location.  Attempt to locate aired and the subject was listed as missing in the appropriate databases.

EAST: Mental Health Conveyance – 5:19 p.m.  Officers responded to a local hospital for a subject who required an emergency detention.  The subject was transported to a mental health facility.

NORTH: Death Investigation – 7:13 p.m.  A subject was located deceased on a walking path near Portage Rd and Hayes Rd. Medical Examiner's office responded.  Death may be drug-related.  Nothing suspicious identified at this time.  Autopsy pending.

CENTRAL: Information – 9:14 p.m.  Officers contacted a subject who wished to report that an acquaintance had struck her in the head, stabbed her and sexually assaulted her over the course of the past week.  Officers did not observe any injuries on the subject.  No charges were substantiated.

SOUTH: Sexual Assault of a Child – 9:27 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence for a report that a suspect (38-year-old male) made inappropriate sexual contact with a child.  Investigation continuing.

SOUTH: Disturbance – 9:43 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence where the suspect (20-year-old male) threatened another subject with a knife.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed.

NORTH: Check Person – 9:50 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject.  The subject was contacted and transported to a hospital.

09/03

Priority calls only from 10:34 a.m. to 12:44 p.m. due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 7:15 p.m. to 8:33 p.m. due to calls for service.

CENTRAL: Fight Call – 1:09 a.m.  Officers observed a fight in progress in the 400 block of W Gilman St.  A victim was lying unconscious in the street and was transported to the hospital.  The victim regained consciousness at the hospital but left the hospital and refused to cooperate with the investigation.  Two suspects (24-year-old males) were arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting.

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 2:40 a.m.  During an argument between the suspect (32-year-old male) and the female victim, she attempted to call the police.  The suspect tried to take her phone, at which point a male victim also tried to call police and the suspect took the phone from him, took him to the ground and strangled him.  The suspect fought with police who arrived on scene.  The suspect was arrested for strangulation, domestic and non-domestic disorderly conduct and domestic and non-domestic intimidation of a victim.

EAST: Disturbance – 5:27 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence where the suspect (29-year-old male) had become belligerent and refused to leave.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting.

WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 5:33 a.m.  The victim reported that during an argument, the suspect (27-year-old male) punched and kicked her and dragged her out of her apartment.  The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and battery.

NORTH: Check Person – 6:41 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence for a report of a suicidal subject.  The subject was placed into protective custody and conveyed to detox.

MIDTOWN: Check Person/Drug Overdose – 6:53 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence where a suicidal subject had overdosed.  The subject was voluntarily transported to a hospital and admitted.

WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 7:57 a.m.  The victim reported that during an argument, the suspect (42-year-old male) grabbed her arm, leaving bruises, and threatened her.  The suspect provided a false name to officers.  The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, intimidation of a victim, and obstructing.

NORTH: Death Investigation – 9:04 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence where a subject (52-year-old male) was discovered deceased, likely of a drug overdose.  Nothing suspicious on scene.

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 9:15 a.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance where the suspect (28-year-old male) and victim were pushing and shoving each other.  The victim reported that the suspect took his phone when he attempted to call police.  The suspect then got on top of the victim and placed his knee on his back, making it difficult for him to breathe, and then kicked him in the chest.  The suspect was arrested for domestic battery, disorderly conduct and intimidation of a victim.

CENTRAL: Exposure – 9:25 a.m.  Officers responded to the area of State St and W Dayton St for a report of a suspect engaging in inappropriate sexual behavior.  The suspect (24-year-old male) was arrested for lewd and lascivious behavior and misdemeanor bail jumping.

NORTH: Crash – 2:26 p.m.  A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle/driver.  The pedestrian was conveyed to a local hospital with substantial injuries.  The pedestrian was cited for sudden pedestrian movement.  The driver remained on scene and was cooperative. 

NORTH: Adult Arrested Person – 5:13 p.m.  A 27-year-old male suspect was taken into custody on outstanding probable cause. 

NORTH: Check Person – 6:04 p.m.  Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject.  Contact made with the subject who was down on the floor unconscious.  The subject was conveyed to a local hospital. 

MIDTOWN: Domestic Disturbance – 6:38 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 37-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was not on scene when officers arrived.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located. 

EAST: Assist MFD – 6:55 p.m.  Officers responded, along with MFD, to a full structure fire at a residence.  The residence was not occupied at the time.  Nothing suspicious identified at this time.  MFD has the lead on this investigation. 

EAST: Disturbance – 11:09 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 23-year-old female suspect.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct.

SOUTH: Intoxicated Driver – 11:16 p.m.  A 27-year-old male driver/suspect was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence and eluding.

CENTRAL: Disturbance – 2:47 a.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 26-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting. 

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 4:27 a.m.  Officers located a vehicle parked in a no trespassing area and a handgun was observed in the vehicle.  A K9 responded and alerted on the vehicle.  A 21-year-old male suspect was arrested on multiple warrants.  A 25-year-old male suspect was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.  A 25-year-old male suspect was arrested for unlawful use of a telephone and felony bail jumping.  The loaded gun was recovered. 

EAST: Disturbance – 4:52 a.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance and a subject was conveyed to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.  Emergency detention was sought but not approved.  The subject was admitted to the hospital and officers disengaged at this time. 

CENTRAL: Threats Complaint – 4:58 a.m.  Officers responded to a threats complaint involving a 61-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct, threats to law enforcement, misdemeanor bail jumping (3 counts), felony bail jumping (3 counts) and cited for trespassing. 

NORTH: Assist EMS – 5:22 a.m.  Officers responded, along with MFD, to a pulseless non-breathing subject. The subject was conveyed to a local hospital with self-inflicted injuries.  Final outcome pending.      

WEST: Mental Health Conveyance – 9:22 a.m.  Officers responded to take a subject into protective custody under a Chapter 51.  The subject was conveyed to a local hospital.  Final transport/placement pending. **Subject conveyed to another facility.   

SOUTH: Injured Person – 11:29 a.m.  Officers responded to a report of a subject shot.  The victim was located and conveyed to a local hospital.  Investigation continuing.

CENTRAL: Stolen Auto – 12:16 p.m.  A vehicle was reported stolen.  Attempt to locate aired.  **The vehicle was located/recovered unoccupied in Illinois.   

CENTRAL: Disorderly Conduct – 2:45 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 33-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct and bail jumping (4 counts). 

MIDTOWN: Mental Health Conveyance – 4:46 p.m.  Officers responded to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject.  The subject was conveyed to a local hospital.  Final outcome pending.  **Subject transported to Winnebago. 

CENTRAL: Threats Complaint – 4:47 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 36-year-old male suspect.  The suspect fled on foot and remains at-large.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located. 

NORTH: Drug Incident – 6:15 p.m.  Officers responded to a subject down in the grass.  Naloxone administered.  The subject was conveyed to a local hospital and admitted.  The subject has outstanding warrants.  No drugs/paraphernalia located so no charges substantiated at this time. 

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 11:44 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 37-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct. 

CENTRAL: Check Person – 11:52 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence to check the welfare of a subject.  The subject was conveyed to a local hospital for an evaluation.  An emergency detention may be sought.  Probable cause also developed to arrest the subject.  Final outcome pending. 

09/05

Priority calls only from 4:34 p.m. to 5:49 p.m. due to calls for service.
Priority calls only from 6:29 p.m. to 9:04 p.m. due to calls for service.

CENTRAL: Battery – 1:58 a.m.  Officers met with two victims who reported being physically assaulted on N. Frances St.  Investigation continuing. 

MIDTOWN: Sexual Assault – 3:25 a.m.  A victim went to the hospital and reported a sexual assault.  Investigation continuing. 

EAST: Theft – 12:48 p.m.  A victim reported losing their wallet and that their credit card was being used at multiple locations.  Investigation continuing. 

EAST: Crash – 12:50 p.m.  Officers responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash at Cottage Grove Rd/Acewood Blvd.  Pedestrian sustained minor injuries.  Driver remained on scene and cooperative.  Investigation continuing. 

WEST: Battery – 1:36 p.m.  Officers responded to a 911-hang up.  A 21-year-old male suspect was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct. 

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 1:57 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 41-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was not on scene when officers arrived.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located. 

SOUTH: Disturbance – 3:08 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 32-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct (2 counts), resisting and threats to injure law enforcement. 

NORTH: Disturbance – 3:37 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 32-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was not on scene when officers arrived.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located. 

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 4:26 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 35-year-old male suspect.  Suspect not on scene.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located. 

CENTRAL: Threats Complaint – 6:51 p.m.  Officers responded to a business who received a threats complaint.  No concerns identified at this time. 

NORTH: Child Abuse – 10:02 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of child abuse.  A 37-year-old male suspect was not on scene when officers arrived.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located. 

MIDTOWN: Mental Health Conveyance – 10:05 p.m.  A subject was conveyed to a local hospital for an emergency detention.  The subject was subsequently transported to Winnebago. 

09/06

CENTRAL: Disturbance – 1:51 a.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance with the suspect no longer on scene.  Investigation continuing.
