The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 1/26/2024 through 6:00 a.m. on 1/29/2024, MPD received 1,033 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (188),East (200), Midtown (163), North (178), South (119), West (159), and Other (26). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Priority calls only from 11:02 a.m. to 3:44 p.m. due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 7:09 p.m. to 8:17 p.m. due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 10:50 p.m. to 2:40 a.m. due to calls for service.

CENTRAL: Traffic Arrest – 6:00 a.m. A 30-year-old male driver was driving recklessly and struck two occupied vehicles. The subject was contacted and found to have pills, drugs and firearm magazines on him. The subject failed field sobriety tests. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, hit-and-run occupied, possession of MDMA, possession of cocaine and possession of fentanyl.  

MIDTOWN: Traffic Arrest – 10:45 a.m. A driver/vehicle was observed driving recklessly. A traffic stop could not be attempted due to the speed of the vehicle. The area was checked and the vehicle was located crashed into another vehicle. 4 subjects fled on foot but were all apprehended. All subjects were arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent (passenger, party to a crime). Subjects all male, ages 16, 13, 13 and 15.

CENTRAL: Crash – 2:04 p.m. Officers responded to a 2-vehicle crash. Witnesses reported one of the drivers (34-year-old male) fled on foot. The driver was located and detained. Two subjects sustained injuries in the crash. The driver/subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle causing injury (2nd offense), possession of marijuana, possession of heroin and possession of MDMA.   

WEST: Battery – 2:16 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 34-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct while armed.

EAST: Check Person – 2:57 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a subject who cut themselves. The subject was conveyed to a local hospital. Journey Mental Health plugged in. Emergency detention being sought. Final outcome pending. *Subject transported to a mental health facility.

NORTH: Stolen Auto – 3:00 p.m. A 72-year-old male subject was arrested for not returning a rental vehicle. The subject was charged with felony theft.

CENTRAL: Citation – 6:59 p.m. A 23-year-old male subject was cited for discharge of a firearm in the city. The firearm discharged as he was attempting to adjust his sights on the handgun. No injuries sustained.

SOUTH: Traffic Incident – 10:20 p.m. Officers responded to multiple reports of a subject walking on the beltline. Callers then reported that the subject was struck by a vehicle that did not stop. Lifesaving measures attempted but were not successful. Suspect vehicle later located. Incident Report on MPD's website completed. Driver/suspect remains at-large. Investigation continuing.

SOUTH: Intoxicated Driver – 10:53 p.m. A 22-year-old female driver/subject was found to be impaired. There was a child in vehicle, not in a car seat/restraints. The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a child under the age of 16 (1st offense), hit-and-run and child neglect.

MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 10:57 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 60-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed, criminal damage to property and misdemeanor bail jumping.

Priority calls only from 4:52 a.m. to 6:33 a.m. due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 3:57 p.m. to 6:10 p.m. due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 10:02 p.m. to 11:10 p.m. due to calls for service.

EAST: Battery – 2:38 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 22-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for battery, mayhem and disorderly conduct (3 counts).

MIDTOWN: Check Property – 4:47 a.m. Officers responded to a report of shots fired and a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed. No evidence of shots fired located at this time. No property damage or injuries reported.

CENTRAL: Found Person – 1:53 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a found child with no guardian/parent. Child Protective Services contacted. The child was turned over to her mother at the request of CPD.  Probable cause developed for child neglect charges for a 41-year-old female subject who was supposed to be caring for the child. *The suspect was contacted and arrested.

CENTRAL: Check Person – 2:47 p.m. Officers responded to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. The subject was contacted and conveyed to a local hospital. The subject was cooperative and officers disengaged at this time.

WEST: Check Property – 3:55 p.m. Officers responded to reports of shots fired. No evidence of shots fired located at this time.

NORTH: Adult Arrested Person – 7:13 p.m. A 42-year-old male subject was arrested for reckless driving causing bodily harm, hit-and-run involving injury, operating after revocation and resisting/obstruction.

WEST: Death Investigation – 8:25 p.m. Officers responded to check the welfare of a subject (40-year-old male). The subject was located deceased, self-inflicted gunshot wound. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.

CENTRAL: Intoxicated Driver – 8:59 p.m. Officers responded to a crash and a 32-year-old male driver was found to be impaired. He was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (4th offense). The driver's passenger (27-year-old male) was disruptive and interfered several times in the investigation. He was arrested for disorderly conduct and obstructing.

WEST: Disturbance – 9:15 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 24-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, battery to a police officer and resisting.

MIDTOWN: Juvenile Arrest – 11:27 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 16-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property.

Priority calls only from 12:25 p.m. to 1:01 p.m. due to calls for service.

NORTH: Stolen Auto – 1:28 p.m.  A vehicle was reported stolen from a driveway. A key was in the vehicle. The vehicle was able to be tracked and located. Investigation continuing.

MIDTOWN: Adult Arrested Person – 3:46 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 27-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct.

EAST: Sexual Assault of a Child – 6:13 p.m. Officers responded to a sexual assault of a child report. Investigation continuing.

EAST: Juvenile Arrest – 8:25 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving two male subjects (both 14 years of age). Both subjects arrested for disorderly conduct. One of the subjects also charged with criminal damage to property.

EAST: Disturbance – 11:30 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 33-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, trespassing, threats to law enforcement and misdemeanor bail jumping.

MIDTOWN: Non-Residential Burglary – 1:30 a.m. Officers responded to a burglary in progress. 2 18-year-old male subjects were contacted and arrested for burglary.
