The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 01/20/2023 through 6:00 a.m. on 01/23/2023, MPD received 928 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (193), East (186), Midtown (133), North (172), South (84), West (115), and Other (45). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Priority calls only from 3:22 p.m. to 8:13 p.m. due to calls for service.

EAST: Juvenile Arrest – 8:06 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence where a 13-year-old male assaulted two victims.  The suspect was arrested for battery and strangulation. The juvenile was conveyed to the Juvenile Reception Center after a consultation with Journey Mental Health occurred.

EAST: Adult Arrested Person – 10:16 a.m.  Officers observed a 32-year-old male suspect who had warrants for his arrest.  The suspect was taken into custody and conveyed to jail.

WEST: Weapons Offense – 11:03 a.m.  During an argument, the 20-year-old female suspect assaulted a victim.  Officers contacted Journey Mental Health.  Officers developed probable cause to charge the suspect with domestic battery and strangulation.  The suspect was transported to a mental health facility.

WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 1:01 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence where neighbors reported hearing the sounds of a disturbance.  The victim reported that the 51-year-old suspect cornered her during an argument and then left the residence.  Officers located the suspect who physically resisted officers.  The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, resisting, and battery to law enforcement.  Officers consulted with Journey Mental Health.

SOUTH: Weapons Offense – 3:00 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence where the victim reported that the 56-year-old female suspect was waving a gun and threatening to shoot the victim.  The suspect was arrested for 2nd degree reckless endangering safety and disorderly conduct while armed.

CENTRAL: Missing Adult – 4:34 p.m. A 42-year-old female subject was reported as missing.  Attempt to locate aired. The subject was listed as missing in the appropriate databases.

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 5:37 p.m.  The 36-year-old male suspect caused disturbances downtown and then entered the City County Building where he was asking people for money.  The suspect was combative with officers and EMS personnel, and threatened to kill officers.  The suspect was arrested for with battery and threats to law enforcement, discharging bodily fluids at public safety worker, and battery to health care employee.

WEST: Stalking – 8:48 p.m.  The victim reported that the 78-year-old male suspect, with whom she has no previous relationship, has repeatedly contacted her at her workplace.  Officers developed probable cause to charge the suspect with stalking.  Suspect remains at large.

NORTH: Armed Robbery – 9:00 p.m.  Officers responded to a convenience store where the clerk reported several unidentified suspects robbed him at gunpoint.  Investigation continuing.

EAST: Battery – 12:56 a.m.  Officers responded to the men's shelter where a 61-year-old male suspect punched the victim and pushed him to the ground.  Earlier in the evening, officers had responded to a Madison Metro bus stopped in the downtown area where a suspect punched and kicked a victim on the bus.  The suspect was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct.

CENTRAL: Domestic Disturbance – 4:19 a.m. Officers responded to a residence where a suspect and victim were arguing.  A 24-year-old male suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.

WEST: Missing Adult – 6:53 a.m.  Staff at a group home reported that a resident had left on his bicycle the night before and had not returned home.  Attempt to locate aired. The subject was listed as missing in the appropriate databases. *The subject later returned home.

EAST: Stolen Auto – 7:22 a.m.  A victim reported his vehicle was running in the driveway when it was stolen.  Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.

CENTRAL: Missing/Runaway Juvenile – 8:53 a.m.  A mother reported her 17-year-old daughter had run away.  Attempt to locate aired. The juvenile was listed as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases.

EAST: Violation of Court Order – 10:14 a.m.  Officers responded to a report of a 34-year-old suspect violating a restraining order.  The suspect was arrested without incident.

WEST: Adult Arrested Person – 1:13 p.m. A 63-year-old female was arrested on a probation/parole hold.

MIDTOWN: Adult Arrested Person – 3:33 p.m. A 70-year-old female was arrested for battery, disorderly conduct and resisting.

NORTH: Adult Arrested Person – 5:56 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 59-year-old male suspect. The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct while armed, disorderly conduct while armed, domestic battery (2 counts), domestic intimidation of a victim and strangulation.

NORTH: Missing Adult – 6:25 p.m. A 75-year-old male with dementia was reported as missing. Attempt to locate aired. Areas checked. The subject was listed as missing in the appropriate databases.

CENTRAL: Stolen Auto – 6:30 p.m. A vehicle was reported as stolen. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.

CENTRAL: Sexual Assault – 9:09 p.m. A 20-year-old male suspect was arrested for domestic attempted 2nd degree sexual assault, domestic false imprisonment and domestic disorderly conduct.

CENTRAL: Check Person – 10:30 p.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of an intoxicated subject. The subject was conveyed to a local hospital and left in the care of medical staff.

Priority calls only from 11:21 a.m. to 12:58 p.m. due to calls for service.

NORTH: Check Area – 12:18 a.m. A homeowner reported observing a subject walking up to his garbage can and disposing of something. A loaded handgun was located.

NORTH: Sexual Assault – 12:31 a.m. Officers received a sexual assault of a child report. Investigation continuing.

EAST: Stolen Auto – 5:15 a.m. A vehicle was reported as stolen. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.

WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 5:20 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 31-year-old male suspect. The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, battery, strangulation and physical abuse to a child.

NORTH: Residential Burglary – 9:11 a.m. Homeowners reported a suspect(s) entered their home through an unlocked door. Personal items stolen.

WEST: Stolen Auto – 9:17 a.m. A subject reported her vehicle as stolen.  The vehicle was located – crashed.  The subject/driver was determined to have been intoxicated and was involved in a hit-and-run. Investigation continuing.

MIDTOWN: Missing/Runaway Juvenile – 11:14 a.m. A 10-year-old female was reported as missing/runaway.  Attempt to locate aired. The juvenile was listed as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases. *Juvenile located.

NORTH: Disturbance – 2:41 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 55-year-old male suspect. The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.

NORTH: Death Investigation – 2:46 p.m. Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (91-year-old male). Nothing suspicious identified.

CENTRAL: Disturbance – 3:35 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 47-year-old male suspect. The suspect remains-at large. Investigation continuing.

EAST: Adult Arrested Person – 6:44 p.m. A 19-year-old male subject was arrested for intent to distribute marijuana and felony bail jumping.

CENTRAL: Domestic Disturbance – 12:42 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 28-year-old female suspect. The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.

EAST: Death Investigation – 2:48 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a subject (55-year-old female) down in a common hallway. Lifesaving measures attempted but were not successful. The decedent had a history of health/medical concerns. Nothing suspicious identified.
