The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 09/23/2022 through 6:00 a.m. on 09/26/2022, MPD received 1,111 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (276), East (240), Midtown (155), North (171), South (82), West (156), and Other (31). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

09/23

CENTRAL: Traffic Crash – 9:24 a.m.  Officers responded to North Shore Dr at the bike path where a driver/suspect (46-year-old female) struck a bicyclist with her vehicle while the bicyclist was in the crosswalk.  The suspect was cited for failure to yield.

NORTH: Theft – 10:11 a.m.  A witness reported that two suspects (46-year-old male and 26-year-old female) had stolen items from a storage shed and left the scene in a truck.  The witness stopped the truck and confronted the suspects who returned the items.  Both suspects were arrested for theft.

WEST: Strong Arm Robbery – 10:48 a.m.  Officers responded to Memorial High School where the victim reported that several suspects cornered him in the bathroom at school and stole his phone.  The suspects are students at the school.  Investigation continuing.

NORTH: Traffic Arrest – 12:59 p.m.  Officers responded to the 2200 block of E Washington Ave for a report of a vehicle driving recklessly.  The driver/suspect (18-year-old male) was arrested for eluding, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and several traffic violations.

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 2:37 p.m.  Probation & Parole requested that officers take custody of the suspect (26-year-old female) after she was involved in a disturbance at their office.  Officers located cocaine and a pipe concealed on the suspect's person.  The suspect received additional charges for possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

EAST: Adult Arrested Person – 4:34 p.m.  Officers made contact with multiple suspects in the 4100 block of Sycamore Ave who all had warrants for their arrest.  All suspects were taken into custody and conveyed to jail.

NORTH: Death Investigation – 6:11 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of a subject (28-year-old male) who was observed vomiting and then was discovered not breathing and without a pulse.  MFD paramedics also responded and performed life saving measures which were unsuccessful.  The subject was pronounced deceased. 

WEST: Mental Health Conveyance – 10:38 p.m.  Officers assisted Journey Mental Health with the transport of a subject to a mental health facility.

CENTRAL: Stolen Auto – 11:15 p.m.  The victim reported his vehicle was stolen from the area of E Main St on the square sometime that evening.  Attempt to locate aired.  The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.

MIDTOWN: Traffic Crash – 11:24 p.m.  Officers responded to the intersection of Monroe St and Regent St where the suspect vehicle failed to yield while making a left turn and collided with a moped.  The suspect driver was cited for failure to yield.

Priority calls only from 8:30 p.m. to 9:39 p.m. due to calls for service.

WEST: Stolen Auto – 12:19 a.m.  Officers took a report of a vehicle stolen from a residence.  Attempt to locate aired.  The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases. **The vehicle was later located unoccupied and the registered owner was notified.

EAST: Weapons Offense Shots Fired – 3:06 a.m.  An officer in the area of Woodman's grocery store reported hearing the sounds of a vehicle crash and then gunshots.  Officers located the crashed vehicle unoccupied on the on-ramp for southbound Stoughton Rd at Milwaukee St and observed a bullet hole in the windshield.  Officers made contact with the registered owner who was not operating the vehicle at the time of the incident.  Investigation continuing.

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 7:37 a.m.  The victims reported that the suspect (31-year-old male) entered their residence through a window.  The suspect was arrested for domestic battery, disorderly conduct, burglary and violating a restraining order related to this incident, as well as intimidation of a victim, disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property related to a previous incident.

NORTH: Check Person – 8:51 a.m.  Officers made contact with a subject who was reportedly suicidal.  The subject was left in the care of a family member after officers disengaged.

WEST: Disturbance – 9:24 a.m.  During an argument between the suspect (30-year-old female) and the two victims, the suspect armed herself with a knife and threatened to stab one of the victims.  The suspect fled the scene.  Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for disorderly conduct, and disorderly conduct while armed.  Suspect is at large.

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 1:56 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 42-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was not on scene when officers arrived.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located. 

NORTH: Check Person: 2:39 p.m.  Officers received a request to check on the welfare of a subject.  The subject was contacted and conveyed to a local hospital for an evaluation.  Journey Mental Health plugged in.  Emergency detention being sought.  Final outcome pending. 

CENTRAL: Drug Incident – 7:34 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject.  A 39-year-old male suspect was conveyed to a local hospital.  The suspect was found to have heroin on him.  The suspect was given an order-in for possession of heroin.  A 36-year-old female suspect was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor bail jumping (2 counts) and felony bail jumping (2 counts). 

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 7:42 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 52-year-old female suspect.  The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and misdemeanor bail jumping. 

EAST: Sexual Assault – 8:05 p.m.  A victim reported being sexually assaulted.  Investigation continuing.

Priority calls only from 5:05 p.m. to 6:09 p.m. due to calls for service.

NORTH: Intoxicated Driver – 2:49 a.m.  Officers responded to a report of a driver/suspect (35-year-old male) slumped over in a vehicle at an intersection.  The suspect was contacted and determined to be impaired.  The suspect was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (2nd offense), carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a firearm while intoxicated. 

WEST: Stolen Auto – 6:42 a.m.  A vehicle was reported stolen.  Attempt to locate aired.  The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases. 

EAST: Check Person – 6:44 a.m.  Officers responded to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject.  The subject was contacted and conveyed to a local hospital.  Journey Mental Health plugged in. Final outcome pending. **Subject was voluntary and officers disengaged.   

CENTRAL: Disturbance – 1:24 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 15-year-old female suspect.  The suspect was arrested for battery (3 counts) and resisting. 

NORTH: Adult Arrested Person – 4:19 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of a subject/suspect (50-year-old male) waving a gun around.  The suspect was arrested for felony bail jumping and issued a city citation for facsimile firearm. 

WEST: Disturbance – 4:43 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of a subject flashing a gun.  A 15-year-old male suspect was arrested for receiving stolen property (firearm), possession of a dangerous weapon under the age of 18 and resisting. 

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 5:07 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance.  A 32-year-old male suspect was arrested for violating a domestic abuse injunction (no charges established for the disturbance). 

EAST: Adult Arrested Person – 8:08 p.m.  Officers observed a wanted subject/suspect (29-year-old male) and took him into custody.  The suspect was transported to jail. 

MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 8:10 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 55-year-old female suspect.  The suspect was armed with a hatchet.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and resisting. 

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 8:55 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 26-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was not on scene.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located. 

EAST: Sexual Assault of a Child – 10:25 p.m.  Officers received a sexual assault of a child report. Investigation continuing.

CENTRAL: Traffic Stop – 2:24 a.m.  A traffic stop was conducted.  A 62-year-old male suspect was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense), possession of drug paraphernalia, felon in possession of a concealed knife and open intoxicants.  A 57-year-old male suspect was cited and released for possession of drug paraphernalia.
