The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 07/14/2023 through 6:00 a.m. on 07/17/2023, MPD received 1,351 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (255), East (282), Midtown (176), North (247), South (160), West (201), and Other (30). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

07/14

Priority calls only from 3:35 p.m. to 4:52 p.m. due to calls for service.

CENTRAL: Trespass – 7:45 a.m. Officers responded to a complaint of trespassing involving a 50-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for trespassing.

EAST: Stolen Auto – 8:22 a.m. A vehicle was reported stolen. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.

EAST: Adult Arrested Person – 12:23 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 59-year-old male subject who had armed himself with a machete. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed.

SOUTH: Traffic Arrest – 1:10 p.m. A traffic stop was conducted and the 24-year-old female driver was found to have several outstanding warrants.  The subject was transported to jail.  

WEST: Sexual Assault – 2:28 p.m. The victim reported being sexually assaulted by a known acquaintance (65-year-old male subject). Investigation continuing.

EAST: Check Person – 2:58 p.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. The subject was transported to a local hospital. Journey Mental Health consulted. Officers disengaged.

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 10:33 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 28-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for domestic battery and disorderly conduct.

Priority calls only from 1:36 a.m. to 2:46 a.m. due to calls for service.

NORTH: Assist Police – 12:33 a.m. Madison officers assisted Maple Bluff PD with stopping a stolen vehicle that fled a traffic stop. Three of the four occupants who abandoned the vehicle near Milwaukee St and Walter St and fled on foot were apprehended.

CENTRAL: Residential Burglary – 1:19 a.m. Multiple callers to dispatch reported hearing thumping and glass breaking at a nearby home. Officers discovered signs of forced entry at a residence and then located the 29-year-old male subject in the area. The subject was arrested for resisting arrest and violating the terms of his probation. Charges of burglary and damage to property are forthcoming pending contact with the homeowner.

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 5:43 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 38-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic battery, disorderly conduct and bail jumping.

EAST: Death Investigation – 7:00 a.m. Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (71-year-old male). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.  

EAST: Disturbance – 1:18 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 53-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting.

CENTRAL: Check Person – 2:40 p.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject (39-year-old male). The subject was using drugs at Blount/Dayton. The subject was arrested for possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.

EAST: Adult Arrested Person – 4:17 p.m. A wanted subject (36-year-old male) was located and taken into custody for numerous charges (operating a motor vehicle without consent – 3 charges; burglary – 2 charges). The subject was also charged with resisting and possession of burglarious tools.

MIDTOWN: Domestic Disturbance – 6:34 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 20-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property.

WEST: Mental Health Conveyance – 7:25 p.m. Officers responded to a local facility for a subject in need of an emergency detention/transport to Winnebago.  Third-party transport requested and transport to Winnebago pending.

EAST: Sexual Assault – 11:15 p.m. A 61-year-old male subject was arrested for sexual assault, false imprisonment, substantial battery and intimidation of a victim.

Priority calls only from 1:04 a.m. to 5:07 a.m. due to calls for service.

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 12:03 a.m. A 47-year-old male subject was arrested for stalking, resisting, battery to law enforcement, threats to law enforcement, discharge of bodily fluids, a probation hold and previous outstanding probable cause for disorderly conduct and battery.

CENTRAL: Domestic Disturbance – 12:19 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 35-year-old male subject (not on scene when officers arrived). Probable cause developed to arrest the subject once he is located.

WEST: Sexual Assault – 12:26 a.m. A victim reported being sexually assaulted. A 32-year-old male subject was arrested for 4th degree sexual assault.

WEST: Found Child – 1:23 a.m. A young child was located unattended in the middle of a road. Areas canvassed for family. Child Protective Services responded and took custody of the child. Later in the morning officers responded back to the same area to check on an open door to a residence (determined to be the home of the young child). Officers made entry to the home and located another young child in the home which was in a state of disarray.  Child Protective Services contacted. MFD responded to check on the condition of the young child.  Investigation continuing. *The mother of the children (28-year-old female) was located and arrested for 2 counts of child neglect.

CENTRAL: Fight Call – 1:32 a.m. Officers observed a fight break out on State Street. A 17-year-old female subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and possession of an ECD.

CENTRAL: Traffic Stop – 3:30 a.m. A traffic stop was conducted. A 33-year-old male subject was arrested for possession of cocaine, possession of THC, possession of fentanyl and a probation hold. A 26-year-old female subject was arrested for possession of cocaine.

SOUTH: Intoxicated Driver – 6:16 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a crash with the driver possibly leaving the scene. A 26-year-old male driver/subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (3rd offense) and obstructing.

WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 8:51 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 31-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct while armed.

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 2:47 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 23-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic battery and domestic disorderly conduct.

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 2:50 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 25-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.

MIDTOWN: Death Investigation – 3:25 p.m. Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (58-year-old male). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified at this time.

WEST: Juvenile Arrest – 3:50 p.m. A 12-year-old male juvenile, wanted for stealing an electric bicycle, was located and taken into custody for theft.  The juvenile was fingerprinted and released to a responsible party.  

CENTRAL: Disturbance – 5:33 p.m. Officers responded to James Madison Park for a disturbance involving a 19-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for substantial battery, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct and threats to law enforcement.

CENTRAL: Domestic Disturbance – 5:40 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 43-year-old male subject (not on scene when officers arrived). Probable cause developed to arrest the subject once he is located.

MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 5:50 p.m. Officers responded to Brittingham Park for a report of a disturbance. A victim sustained a laceration and was conveyed to a local hospital for treatment. Investigation continuing.

EAST: Recovered Motorcycle – 6:01 p.m. A stolen motorcycle was located/recovered.

CENTRAL: Stolen Auto – 6:15 p.m. A vehicle was reported stolen. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.

MIDTOWN: Injured Person – 10:06 p.m. Officers responded to a local hospital after a subject showed up stating they had been stabbed. Investigation continuing.

NORTH: Adult Arrested Person – 11:13 p.m. A 51-year-old male subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, resisting and a probation violation.

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 11:16 p.m. A 30-year-old male subject was arrested for possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 11:46 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 40-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic battery, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct (2 counts), operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, felon in possession of a knife, non-support warrants (2 charges) and outstanding probable cause for a domestic-related charge.

CENTRAL: Check Person – 1:18 a.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject. The subject was placed into protective custody and conveyed to a local hospital. Journey Mental Health consulted. An emergency detention is being sought. Final outcome/placement pending.
