The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 08/05/2022 through 6:00 a.m. on 08/08/2022, MPD received 1,194 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (233), East (219), Midtown (181), North (193), South (143), West (175), and Other (50). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

08/05

Priority calls only from 1:55 p.m. to 6:17 p.m. due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 6:26 p.m. to 7:10 p.m. due to calls for service.

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 3:20 a.m.  The victim reported that the suspect (27-year-old male) struck her and pulled her hair during an argument.  The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, battery and bail jumping.

MIDTOWN: Missing Juvenile – 7:43 a.m.  A mother reported her 16-year-old son had left home on a scooter.  Officers checked the area and other locations the juvenile frequents and did not find him.  Attempt to locate aired.  The juvenile was listed as missing in the appropriate databases.  **The juvenile was located safe. 

EAST: Strong Arm Robbery – 7:45 a.m.  Officers responded to Walmart where the victim reported she was putting her groceries in her car when the suspect (34-year-old male) grabbed her keys and phone.  The suspect bit the victim during a struggle over the keys.  The suspect got the keys and left in the victim's vehicle, striking a witness with the vehicle.  Columbia County deputies stopped the vehicle in Lodi and apprehended the suspect.  Officers developed probable cause to charge the suspect with operating a motor vehicle without consent, strong arm robbery, battery, and hit and run.

EAST: Non-Residential Burglary – 9:12 a.m.  Officers responded to a business that was burglarized sometime overnight.  Investigation continuing.

NORTH: Stolen Auto – 11:18 a.m.  The victim reported his vehicle was parked on the street when it was stolen.  Attempt to locate aired.  The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.

EAST: Check Person – 12:40 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence where a subject was not cooperating with care givers and had possibly harmed himself and damaged property.  MFD paramedics transported the subject to the hospital.  The subject was left in the care of hospital staff.

WEST: Weapons Offense Shots Fired – 12:44 p.m.  Officers responded to the 5800 block of Balsam Rd for a report of shots fired in the area.  Officers located fired shell casings but no victim.  A victim showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound.  The victim reported he was walking on Balsam Rd when a vehicle pulled up and started shooting.  Investigation continuing.

SOUTH: Check Person – 1:02 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence for a subject with mental health issues who was causing a disturbance.  The subject was placed into protective custody and conveyed to/admitted to a local hospital.

NORTH: Violation of Court Order – 3:15 p.m.  The victim reported that the suspect (32-year-old male) showed up at her place of employment in violation of a harassment injunction.  The suspect was arrested for violating the injunction.

WEST: Drug Overdose – 3:40 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence where a suspect (37-year-old male) overdosed on fentanyl.  MFD paramedics revived the suspect with naloxone and transported him to the hospital.  The suspect was arrested for possession of narcotics.

EAST: Disturbance – 4:30 p.m.  Two suspects (20-year-old males) attempted to sell phones at a kiosk at East Towne Mall.  The clerk/victim believed the phones were stolen and refused to buy them, at which point the suspects beat the victim with chairs.  The suspects were arrested for battery and disorderly conduct.

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 4:52 p.m.  Officers on patrol in the 500 block of N Frances St observed a suspect (35-year-old male) who was banned from the State St area.  The suspect was arrested for five counts of bail jumping and conveyed to jail.

NORTH: Drug Incident/Investigation – 7:11 p.m.  An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had license plates that did not match the vehicle registration information.  A K9 sniff of the vehicle resulted in a positive alert for the odor of illegal drugs and officers searched the vehicle.  The suspect (25-year-old male) was arrested and faces a multitude of charges related to possession with intent to deliver drugs.

MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 7:20 p.m.  The victim reported that he escorted the suspect (35-year-old male) out of the business after firing him for being intoxicated at work.  The suspect was told he was no longer allowed on the property.  Later the suspect returned to the business and threatened the victim and threw rocks at him.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct and trespass.

EAST: Check Person – 8:17 p.m.  Officers made contact with a suicidal subject.  The subject was voluntarily transported to a hospital and left in the care of hospital staff.

MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 9:58 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence where the suspect (70-year-old female) was harassing and yelling at other residents in the building.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct.

EAST: Stolen Auto – 10:43 p.m.  The victim reported her car was stolen from her driveway.  Attempt to locate aired.  The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 10:48 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence where during an argument, the suspect (17-year-old female) threatened, spit on and struck family members.  The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and battery.

08/06

Priority calls only from 11:33 a.m. to 12:41 p.m. due to calls for service. 

CENTRAL: Fight Call – 1:28 a.m.  Officers responded to the area of State St and W Gilman St for two suspects (22-year-old female and 29-year-old male) who were fighting.  The suspects were arrested for disorderly conduct.  The female suspect was also arrested for resisting.

EAST: Found Person – 3:07 a.m.  Officers were dispatched to a parking lot where a child was wandering unattended.  Shortly thereafter a mother reported her son missing and the child was reunited with his family.

EAST: Traffic Incident – 5:11 a.m.  Officers responded to a crash involving a single vehicle and a pedestrian.  The driver reported that the pedestrian entered the roadway from the median on USH 12 near Agriculture Dr and stepped into the path of oncoming traffic.  The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.  The driver was cooperative and showed no signs of impairment.  Incident report completed on MPD website.

EAST: Information – 7:24 a.m.  Officers made contact with a subject who wished to report a sexual assault.  Investigation continuing.

WEST: Disturbance – 11:04 a.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a gun.  Contact made with multiple subjects who were not cooperative.  A 22-year-old male was arrested for 2nd degree reckless endangering safety, battery and disorderly conduct.  A 17-year-old male was arrested for disorderly conduct.  A 43-year-old male was arrested for disorderly conduct. 

WEST: Crash – 11:13 a.m.  Officers responded to a vehicle vs. motorcycle crash.  The motorcyclist sustained non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the vehicle will be issued traffic citation(s). 

WEST: Death Investigation – 11:25 a.m.  Officers responded to an assisted living facility where staff discovered a subject deceased in his residence.  Nothing suspicious on scene.

NORTH: Disturbance – 3:15 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance between two subjects.  No charges substantiated.  One of the subjects was conveyed to a local hospital for self-inflicted superficial cuts.  Evaluation pending.  Final outcome pending. 

CENTRAL: Animal in Vehicle – 5:48 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of a dog in a locked unoccupied vehicle that was not running.  Officers breached the window to access the dog.  The owner of the dog (17-year-old female) was cited for leaving animal inside a parked vehicle for over 15 minutes. 

MIDTOWN: Crash – 11:54 p.m.  Officers responded to a crash with witnesses reporting three subjects fled on foot from the suspect vehicle.  The registered owner of the suspect vehicle (41-year-old female) was contacted and cited for owner liability hit-and-run. 

08/07

Priority calls only from 4:44 p.m. to 11:16 p.m. due to calls for service.

MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 12:51 a.m.  Officers responded to a convenience store for a subject causing a disturbance.  The subject was given a warning and told to leave which he complied with. No charges. 

MIDTOWN: Check Person – 3:00 a.m.  A subject was conveyed to a local hospital for detox due to his intoxication levels.  No charges.  

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 3:46 a.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 25-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was not on scene when officers arrived.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located. 

MIDTOWN: Battery – 4:05 a.m.  Officers responded to a local hospital for a disturbance involving a 21-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was arrested for battery to a healthcare provider. 

EAST: Intoxicated Driver – 5:03 a.m. An officer observed a driver/suspect (31-year-old male) sleeping in a running vehicle.  The suspect was determined to be impaired and arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense).  The suspect was also arrested for threats to law enforcement. 

NORTH: Stolen Auto – 5:18 a.m.  Officers responded to a report of an unoccupied vehicle in a ditch.  A 17-year-old female was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent.  A 15-year-old male was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent. 

EAST: Check Person – 2:46 p.m.  Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject.  The subject was taken into protective custody and conveyed to a local hospital.  Evaluation pending.  Final outcome pending.  **Subject transported to Winnebago. 

CENTRAL: Death Investigation – 3:52 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (52-eyar-old male).  Medical Examiner's office responded.  Nothing suspicious identified at this time. Autopsy pending.  Decedent had a history of health concerns. 

EAST: Disturbance – 4:36 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 40-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed, disorderly conduct, resisting and a parole hold. 

MIDTOWN: Adult Arrested Person – 5:13 p.m.  A traffic stop was conducted after a retail theft was reported.  The suspect (39-year-old female) fled on foot.  The suspect was ultimately arrested on numerous charges and outstanding warrants. 

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 5:32 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 66-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and resisting.  A 62-year-old female was cited for resisting. 

EAST: Disturbance – 7:33 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 38-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was arrested for battery, disorderly conduct, threats to law enforcement, resisting, misdemeanor bail jumping and a probation/parole hold.

SOUTH: Check Person – 8:25 p.m.  Officers responded to a local hospital regarding a subject under a Chapter 51 return from another county.  Subject likely to be conveyed to Winnebago.  Transport pending.

08/08

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 2:37 a.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 17-year-old male suspect.  Suspect not on scene.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located.
