The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 3/22/2024 through 6:00 a.m. on 3/25/2024, MPD received 1,089 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (195),East (219), Midtown (166), North (194), South (127), West (164), and Other (24). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Priority calls only from 11:38 a.m. to 12:27 p.m. due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 11:48 p.m. to 1:18 a.m. due to calls for service.

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 6:20 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 34-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.

MIDTOWN: Weapons Violation – 8:13 a.m. A confrontation took place between two neighbors. A dog escaped from an apartment and charged at one of the neighbors/subjects. The subject fired a shot which struck the ground. Investigation continuing.

MIDTOWN: Mental Health Response – 9:37 a.m. Officers responded to a local hospital for an aggressive subject in need of a mental health evaluation. CARES on scene. Final outcome pending.

WEST: Sexual Assault of a Child – 9:43 a.m. Officers received a sexual assault of a child report. Child Protective Services plugged in. Investigation continuing.

MIDTOWN: Trespassing 7:48 p.m. Two male subjects (62-years-old and 27-years-old) were arrested for trespassing. The 27-year-old was also arrested on a DOC warrant.

NORTH: Adult Arrested Person – 9:57 p.m. Officers observed short-term trafficking and contacted a 36-year-old male subject who was found in possession of drugs. The subject was arrested for possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, possession of fentanyl, possession of drug paraphernalia and a probation hold.

SOUTH: Drug Incident – 11:11 p.m. Officers responded to an overdose call. Officers administered naloxone and performed CCR on a 29-year-old female subject who was transported to a local hospital and given a felony order-in for possession of heroin and child neglect. A 29-year-old male subject also had an overdose as officers were on scene. He was administered naloxone and conveyed to a local hospital. The male subject was transported to jail for possession of heroin. Children that were on scene were placed into foster care by CPS.

CENTRAL: Intoxicated Driver – 2:17 a.m. Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash. A 26-year-old male driver was found to be impaired. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense) and possession of cocaine.

MIDTOWN: Intoxicated Driver – 2:24 a.m. A traffic stop was conducted and the 24-year-old male driver was found to be impaired. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (4th offense) and a probation hold.

MIDTOWN: Death Investigation – 7:12 a.m. Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (76-year-old female). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.

WEST: Crash – 7:51 a.m. Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash (one vehicle rolled). Minor injuries sustained. A driver was cited for inattentive driving.

EAST: Adult Arrested Person – 9:34 a.m. A 55-year-old female subject was arrested on outstanding warrants for identity theft (3 counts).

SOUTH: Death Investigation – 3:22 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (64-year-old male). Decedent was under hospice care. Nothing suspicious identified.

MIDTOWN: Adult Arrested Person – 5:39 p.m. Officers responded to a residence in an attempt to locate/arrest a wanted subject. A 65-year-old male subject was taken into custody on domestic probable cause.

NORTH: Check Person – 5:48 p.m. Officers responded to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. The subject was contacted and transported to a local hospital under protective custody. Journey Mental Health consulted. Final outcome pending.

WEST: Stolen Auto – 6:38 p.m. A vehicle was reported as stolen. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases. *Vehicle located/recovered.

EAST: Residential Burglary – 9:26 p.m. Officers responded to a burglary in progress. A subject was contacted and taken into protective custody. The subject was transported to a local hospital for an emergency detention. Monona PD has the lead on the custody/emergency detention of the subject.

WEST: Sexual Assault – 10:15 p.m. Officers received a report of sexual assault. Investigation continuing.

NORTH: Adult Arrested Person – 10:50 p.m. Officers responded to a report of an unwanted subject (41-year-old male). The subject was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

EAST: Check Area – 11:04 p.m. Officers responded to various East and North district addresses for shots fired/fireworks calls. Little cooperation obtained from those officers spoke to. No reported injuries or property damage at this time. Several shell casings located.

Priority calls only from 2:55 a.m. to 6:10 a.m. due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 4:30 p.m. to 7:19 p.m. due to calls for service.

CENTRAL: Weapons Violation – 2:50 a.m. Officers responded to sounds of gunfire in the 300 block of W. Gorham St. A subject was located who sustained gunshot wounds. The subject was transported to a local hospital. Incident Report on MPD's website completed. Investigation continuing.

CENTRAL: Death Investigation – 7:24 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (64-year-old female). Medical Examiner's office responded. Autopsy scheduled. Nothing suspicious identified at this time.

NORTH: Fire – 9:56 a.m. Officers responded, along with MFD, to a structure fire at an apartment complex. Heavy smoke, no one inside.

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 11:19 a.m. A 32-year-old female subject was arrested on an outstanding warrant.  

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 11:25 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 38-year-old female subject (not on scene). Officers contacted the subject via phone and advised of her pending charges. The subject agreed to turn herself in tonight. *Subject turned herself in.

EAST: Death Investigation – 3:28 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a suicidal subject (63-year-old male). Officers attempted to dialogue with the subject who was inside the residence. The subject's family arrived on scene and went inside the home where they located the subject deceased.

MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 3:52 p.m. Officers responded to a local hospital for a 41-year-old male subject causing a disturbance and fighting with staff. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct.

WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 6:13 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 27-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, battery, and strangulation.

EAST: Disturbance – 8:34 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 41-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for battery.

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 8:55 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 26-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for domestic battery and domestic disorderly conduct.

EAST: Intoxicated Driver – 9:57 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a male subject (46-year-old) passed out in a vehicle. The subject was determined to be impaired and arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (5th offense).

CENTRAL: Check Area – 1:44 a.m. A subject reported being approached by 3 unknown subjects, one of which produced a handgun (no threats made). Areas checked. Nothing located.
