City-Wide Notable Calls 01/18/2024 to 01/19/2024

The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 01/18/2024 through 6:00 a.m. on 01/19/2024, MPD received 461 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (60), East (95), Midtown (94), North (87), South (62), West (55), and Other (8). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Priority calls for service only between 7:15pm and 9:05pm.

01/18

SOUTH: Check Person – 10:18 am. Officers responded with MFD paramedics for a report of a child who was attempting to harm himself and others. The child was left in the care of his mother.

SOUTH: Adult Arrested Person – 1:10 pm. Officers contacted a subject who matched the description of an armed robbery suspect. The 45-year-old man was arrested on a warrant and transported downtown to be interviewed by detectives.

WEST: Death Investigation – 3:46 pm. Property management discovered a 76-year-old tenant deceased in her apartment. Nothing suspicious on scene.

SOUTH: Check Person – 7:15 pm. Officers responded to a group home where a female subject was attempting to harm herself. Officers consulted with Journey Mental Health. The subject was transported to a hospital and then returned to her residence.

MIDTOWN: Domestic Disturbance – 9:50 pm. Officers responded to a residence to assist with a ten-year-old's behavioral issues. Officers consulted with CPS and the child was placed in foster care.

01/19

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 12:07 am. Officers responded to the Super 8 hotel where the 42-year-old male suspect assaulted the victim. The suspect was arrested for domestic strangulation, battery and resisting.
