The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 10/10/2023 through 6:00 a.m. on 10/11/2023, MPD received 442 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (83),East (87), Midtown (65), North (94), South (52), West (53), and Other (8). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Priority calls only from 5:26 p.m. to 6:55 p.m. due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 8:29 p.m. to 1:33 a.m. due to calls for service.

SOUTH: Theft from Auto – 8:00 a.m. Two vehicles were broken into in a parking lot. Investigation continuing.

WEST: Check Welfare – 3:06 p.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of two children. No one was home when officers arrived. Contact was made with the mother who gave officers permission to enter the home. The home was found to be in poor condition. Child Protective Services responded. Investigation continuing.

NORTH: Stolen Auto – 3:45 p.m. A vehicle was reported as stolen from a secure underground parking lot. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.

WEST: Juvenile Arrest – 4:09 p.m. A 15-year-old male subject, wanted, was taken into custody for eluding, felon in possession of a firearm, recklessly endangering safety and an outstanding capias. An AR-15 was recovered.

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 6:44 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 25-year-old male subject (not on scene when officers arrived). Probable cause developed to arrest the subject. The subject remains at-large.

EAST: Homicide – 8:27 p.m. Officers responded to the 5900 block of Milwaukee St for a weapons offense. A 15-year-old female victim was located with a gunshot wound. Lifesaving measures attempted but were not successful. 3 additional teens (ages 14) also sustained gunshot wounds. CENTRAL: Intoxicated Driver – 2:14 a.m. A traffic stop was conducted and the 35-year-old male driver was found to be impaired. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense).
