The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 05/05/2023 through 6:00 a.m. on 05/08/2023, MPD received 1,202 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (246), East (257), Midtown (180), North (188), South (149), West (147), and Other (35). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

05/05

Priority calls only from 8:53 p.m. to 11:35 p.m. due to calls for service.

WEST: Adult Arrested Person – 10:34 a.m.  Officers responded to the 7900 block of Tree Ln and made contact with a 34-year-old male subject who was prohibited from being in the area.  The subject was arrested for felony bail jumping.

MIDTOWN: Assist EMS/Fire – 10:38 a.m.  Officers responded with MFD firefighters to Sconnie Bar for a report of a gas leak.  Officers disengaged when it was determined there were no traffic concerns.

NORTH: Disturbance – 11:30 a.m.  Two property management employees arrived at a residence to do a previously announced inspection.  The 28-year-old female resident/subject who answered the door was angry and property management staff left and went to a nearby gas station.  The subject showed up at the gas station with a second 39-year-old female subject and confronted the victims.  The two subjects were cited for disorderly conduct.

NORTH: Traffic Crash – 12:33 p.m.  Officers responded to the intersection of Hoepker Rd and Rattmann Rd where the 25-year-old female driver/subject went through a stop sign and collided with another vehicle.  The subject was cited for the stop sign violation and operating with a suspended driver's license.

CENTRAL: Disturbance Unwanted Person – 3:22 p.m.  Officers responded to the Beacon where the 37-year-old female subject had been asked to leave but refused to do so.  The subject was arrested for bail jumping, disorderly conduct and trespass after notification.

MIDTOWN: Domestic Disturbance – 5:27 p.m.  During an argument the 24-year-old male subject battered the victim.  The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, battery and strangulation.

WEST: Attempted Suicide – 5:58 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence where a subject attempted suicide.  The subject was transported to the hospital.

MIDTOWN: Traffic Crash – 10:39 p.m.  Officers responded to the area of Odana Rd and Oneida Pl where a Metro bus crashed into a retaining wall.  The driver reported momentarily losing consciousness and then attempted to get the bus back on the roadway.  The crash appeared to be related to a medical event and not an impairment issue.  The driver and sole passenger on the bus reported minor injuries.

MIDTOWN: Intoxicated Driver – 11:19 p.m.  A 39-year-old male driver/subject crashed into a light pole at Campus Dr and Randall Ave and then left the scene.  UWPD spotted the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop at Regent St and Lathrop St.  The subject fled on foot but was apprehended shortly thereafter.  The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (2nd offense), hit and run, carrying a concealed weapon, and felon in possession of a firearm.

WEST: Weapons Offense – 11:53 p.m.  Officers responded to reports of shots fired.  Officers contacted a woman who reported she was arguing with her boyfriend when he discharged his firearm into the ground in the parking lot.  The subject was no longer on scene and has yet to be positively identified.  Officers did not locate any property damage, injured persons or fired shell casings.  Investigation continuing.

Priority calls only from 9:02 p.m. to 11:51 p.m. due to calls for service.

MIDTOWN: Sexual Assault – 12:40 a.m.  Staff at a local hospital reported that two victims were seeking medical attention after being sexually assaulted.  Investigation continuing.

CENTRAL: Intoxicated Driver – 2:44 a.m.  An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near N Ingersoll St and E Mifflin St.  The 29-year-old male driver/subject was found to be impaired. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (2nd offense).  A 33-year-old male passenger was arrested for carrying a concealed knife and bail jumping.

CENTRAL: Runaway Juvenile – 4:16 a.m.  A father reported his 17-year-old son had left the home sometime overnight.  State Patrol located the juvenile several hours later and he was transported to a local hospital for mental health treatment and reunited with his family.

EAST: Weapons Offense – 4:31 a.m.  Officers responded for reports of a disturbance in the hallway of an apartment building.  During an argument the 36-year-old male subject had armed himself with a sword and swung it at the victim who sustained a minor scratch.  The subject was cited for disorderly conduct while armed.

MIDTOWN: Mental Health Conveyance – 6:11 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence and placed a subject into protective custody for a chapter 51 return.  The subject was transported to the hospital.

NORTH: Check Person/Mental Health Conveyance – 9:58 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence where a subject had possibly overdosed.  The subject was transported to the hospital and left in the care of hospital staff.

MIDTOWN: Runaway Juvenile – 10:39 a.m.  A mother reported her 16-year-old son ran away from home.  Attempt to locate aired. The juvenile was listed as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases. *Juvenile returned home.

NORTH: Sexual Assault of a Child – 1:39 p.m. Officers received a report of sexual assault of a child. Child Protective Services plugged in. Safety plan developed. Investigation continuing.

SOUTH: Armed Robbery – 2:54 p.m. A 31-year-old male subject grabbed money from a victim at a convenience store. The subject threatened the victim with a knife. The subject was located (by a K9) and arrested for armed robbery, disorderly conduct while armed, resisting and carrying a concealed weapon.

MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 6:11 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 35-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed (2 counts).

SOUTH: Adult Arrested Person – 8:45 p.m. EMS responded to a report of a subject (46-year-old male) down on the floor. Naloxone was administered and the subject was conveyed to a local hospital. The subject was subsequently arrested and transported to jail for possession of heroin and bail jumping.

WEST: Check Area – 12:29 a.m. Officers responded to the 7200 block of Mid Town Road for a report of shots fired. Areas checked. One casing located. No reported injuries or property damage at this time. Investigation continuing.

EAST: Sexual Assault of a Child – 2:42 a.m. Officers received a report of sexual assault of a child. Child Protective Services plugged in. Safety plan established. Investigation continuing.

WEST: Check Area – 2:44 a.m. Officers responded to a loud noise heard by residents followed by observed damage. Damage confirmed to be from a bullet. No injuries reported. Investigation continuing.

WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 3:18 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 18-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and misdemeanor bail jumping.

EAST: Mental Health Conveyance – 8:31 a.m. An officer observed a subject walking in the roadway. The subject was contacted and taken into protective custody. The subject was conveyed to a local hospital. Final outcome pending.

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 11:03 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 39-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.

NORTH: Armed Robbery – 4:22 p.m. A 21-year-old male subject displayed a firearm and took the victim's cash. The subject was arrested for armed robbery, disorderly conduct while armed and an outstanding warrant.

NORTH: Death Investigation – 6:07 p.m. Officers responded to a residence to check the welfare of a subject (69-year-old male). Entry was made to the residence and the subject was located deceased. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 6:07 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 38-year-old male subject. The subject was cited and conveyed to jail to post on a disorderly conduct charge.

NORTH: Disturbance – 8:13 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving numerous subjects. A subject sustained facial injuries. Other involved subjects no longer on scene. Investigation continuing.

MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 8:21 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 41-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for bail jumping as he was in violation of a no consumption of alcohol rule.

SOUTH: Check Person – 8:39 p.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. Attempt to locate aired. Areas checked. Phone pinged. Subject not located at this time.

MIDTOWN: Check Area – 9:35 p.m. Officers responded to a report of shots fired on Allied Drive and a bullet entering a residence. No injuries reported. Investigation continuing.

SOUTH: Disturbance – 9:42 p.m. A subject reported being lunged at by a female subject who had a knife. No injuries located. Investigation continuing.
