City-Wide Notable Calls 12/21/2022 to 12/22/2022

The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 12/20/2022 through 6:00 a.m. on 12/21/2022, MPD received 338 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (70),East (74), Midtown (53), North (62), South (31), West (40), and Other (8). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Priority calls only from 1:03 p.m. to 3:38 p.m. due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 10:59 p.m. to 3:52 a.m. due to calls for service.

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance –3:00 a.m. Officers respond to a domestic incident. Man has bail conditions not to be at the address or have contact with the victim. Man began breaking victim's property, attempts to keep the victim from calling police. Resources provided to get the victim in connection to support agencies.

MIDTOWN: Domestic Disturbance –9:00 a.m. Officers called to a home where an adult male was throwing objects and destroying property. Officers contact Journey Mental Health for an evaluation.

CENTRAL: Disturbance –11:08 a.m. Officers dispatched to a disturbance at the Beacon for a man harassing staff. Suspect left the building and headed to another location where he is banned. Suspect arrested for disorderly conduct with a hate crime modifier, threats to law enforcement and cited for trespassing.

EAST: Traffic Arrest –12:47 p.m. Officers respond to a man recklessly driving in two store parking lots, nearly hitting shoppers. Officers attempt a high-risk traffic stop and the man flees from police. It eventually crashes. The driver was arrested for first-offense OWI, reckless driving, second-degree recklessly endangering safety.

NORTH: Death Investigation –12:39 p.m. Officers called to check on a man who hadn't been heard from lately. Man found deceased, likely for sometime, Nothing suspicious located. Autopsy scheduled.

CENTRAL: Conveyance Mental Health –12:57 p.m. Woman believes her mother is being held hostage inside an apartment. She begins to yell in the hallway and physically assaults someone inside the apartment unit. Others in the building are unable to help the woman. Woman transported to the hospital and Journey Mental Health called.

WEST: Check person –2:39 p.m. Local clinic contacted police after a man called expressing suicidal thoughts. Officers, Journey Mental Health and Crisis responded.

EAST: Domestic Disturbance –3:52 p.m. Officers dispatched to a 911 open line with an active disturbance. Family members were involve in a physical fight over the use of a vehicle. Man arrested for operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent, disorderly conduct while armed and bail jumping. Another man arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.

MIDTOWN: Domestic Disturbance –7:44 p.m. Man and woman are in an argument regarding a custody arrangement. Man kicked in door during the incident.

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance –8:14 Officers respond to a domestic disturbance. Suspect gone by the time officers arrived.

NORTH: Robbed Robbery  –8:29 p.m. Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery. Cell phone was stolen from the victim by a group of people.

CENTRAL: Domestic Disturbance  –10:04 p.m. Officers respond to reports of two women screaming and fighting in the hallway of an apartment building.  Woman arrested for simple battery, threats to law enforcement officers, domestic disorderly conduct.

EAST: Sexual Assault–11:20 p.m. Officers respond to reports of an unwanted person. One of the people involved reported a sexual assault to responding officers.

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance  –11:36 p.m. Man approached woman walking a dog. Woman called police after he wouldn't leave her alone. Suspect reportedly took victim's phone during interaction. Suspect arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, domestic battery and intimidation of a victim.
