City-Wide Notable Calls 10/24/2023 to 10/25/2023

The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 10/24/2023 through 6:00 a.m. on 10/25/2023, MPD received 435 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (68),East (107), Midtown (71), North (73), South (44), West (61), and Other (11). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Priority calls only from 6:07 p.m. to 9:07 p.m. due to calls for service.

EAST: Missing Juvenile – 8:23 a.m. A juvenile left a goodbye letter at school. A K-9 unit and Unmanned Aircraft System (drone) were used to locate him. He was found safe downtown by an officer.

NORTH: Death Investigation – 2:42 p.m. Family checked on a relative and found him down in his apartment. No signs of foul play.

CENTRAL: Disturbance – 4:42 p.m. Officers were dispatched to a resource center for a woman playing with fire and causing disturbances with staff. CARES requested and Journey Mental Health consulted.

CENTRAL: Death Investigation – 5:04 p.m. Officers called to a home after family members found a woman deceased. No signs of foul play.

MIDTOWN: Weapons Violation – 6:16 p.m. Officers dispatched to the 2300 block of Allied Dr. for a shots fired incident. Shell casings recovered. Road shut down as officers investigated. No injuries or property damage reported. Incident Report completed.

NORTH: Check Property – 11:03 p.m. Man called police upset with vehicles pulling into his driveway.

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 12:56 a.m. Woman called for help to report a man was feeling suicidal and threatened to also kill her. Man was not at the home when officers arrived.

CENTRAL: Suspicious Person – 4:19 a.m. Woman called for help after man, who appeared intoxicated, broke into her home and refused to leave. The man had removed items from her fridge and was drinking beer. Officers entered the home with the victim's permission and found the man hiding behind a table. Officers able to take him safely into custody. Incident Report completed.
