The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 10/21/2022 through 6:00 a.m. on 10/24/2022, MPD received 1,316 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (303), East (262), Midtown (225), North (203), South (100), West (190), and Other (33). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Priority calls only from 5:59 p.m. to 11:43 p.m. due to calls for service.

SOUTH: Weapons Offense – 10:37 a.m.  The victim reported he was traveling on the on-ramp to the W Beltline Hwy from John Nolen Dr when an unidentified suspect passed him on the shoulder in a vehicle with no plates.  The victim honked his horn and the suspect leaned out his window and pointed a gun at the victim before merging onto the beltline at a high rate of speed.  Investigation continuing.

CENTRAL: Sexual Assault – 1:22 p.m.  Officers investigated a report of a sexual assault.

NORTH: Death Investigation – 3:11 p.m.  CARES responded to a residence to check the welfare of a 53-year-old male subject and discovered him deceased.  Nothing suspicious on scene.

EAST: Drug Incident/Investigation – 6:05 p.m.  An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for several violations.  A search of the vehicle located marijuana and a large amount of cash.  The driver/suspect (23-year-old male) was arrested for possession with intent THC and bail jumping.

SOUTH: Theft – 7:15 p.m.  The victim reported that the suspect, her 15-year-old son, stole her purse which contained two firearms.  The suspect fled the residence in a vehicle with two other suspects (18-year-old male and 17-year-old female) who were later located and arrested for party to a crime theft.  The 15-year-old suspect is at large.  Investigation continuing.

NORTH: Check Person – 7:51 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence after receiving information that a subject in the home was being held against her will and had been stabbed and beaten.  Officers were unable to substantiate the claims and discovered no injured persons.  A suspect (31-year-old female) was arrested who was wanted on charges related to a previous incident.

MIDTOWN: Traffic Crash – 8:14 p.m.  The suspect (29-year-old male) crashed his car into a guard rail on the off-ramp from the beltline to Whitney Way.  An officer observed the suspect walk away from the crash carrying a bag which the suspect then discarded.  Officers recovered the bag which contained a loaded handgun.  The suspect was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 9:29 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence where the suspect (23-year-old female) was throwing rocks at the victim's windows and yelling.  The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.  Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for domestic disorderly conduct.

MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 9:42 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence where a subject was visibly injured.  Neither of the two involved subjects was cooperative with police.  Officers determined there was a warrant for the arrest of one of the subjects (30-year-old male).  The suspect was arrested and conveyed to jail.

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 11:30 p.m.  Officers in the 400 block of N Broom St observed a wanted suspect (33-year-old male).  The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

EAST: Weapons Offense Shots Fired – 2:58 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence where there was damage from shots fired.  No one in the apartment was injured.  Officers believed this may be related to a burglary at a nearby residence earlier in the night.  Investigation continuing.

NORTH: Stolen Auto – 8:11 a.m.  The suspect (38-year-old female) drove off with a vehicle whose owner did not give her permission to drive it.  Officers located the vehicle unoccupied and the suspect hiding nearby.  The suspect was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent and resist/obstruct.

CENTRAL: Damage to Property – 9:27 a.m. Officers responded to the area of E Main St and S Butler St for a report of a suspect damaging cars.  Investigation continuing.

MIDTOWN: Carjacking – 12:36 p.m.  The first victim reported he was stopped in his vehicle at John Nolen Dr and Rimrock Rd when an unidentified suspect pulled the victim forcibly from his car and fled the scene westbound on the beltline.  A second victim reported a suspect had entered their vehicle at the Capitol Petro.  The first victim's car was recovered at the Capitol Petro.  A third victim reported someone had attempted to enter their car but was unsuccessful.  Investigation continuing. *A 30-year-old male suspect was arrested.  The Town of Madison PD has the lead on this investigation. 

EAST: Adult Arrested Person – 1:46 p.m.  Officers responded to numerous reports of a 28-year-old male suspect causing a disturbance.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and bail jumping. 

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 9:38 p.m. Officers made contact with a 23-year-old male suspect in a no trespassing area.  Investigation yielded open intoxicants, marijuana and a handgun.  The suspect was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, trespassing and issued a citation for open intoxicants. 

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 10:22 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 52-year-old female suspect.  The suspect was arrested for domestic criminal damage to property and a probation/parole hold. 

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 11:47 p.m.  An 18-year-old female suspect was arrested for possession with intent to deliver THC and an outstanding warrant.

EAST: Aggravated/Substantial Battery – 12:24 a.m. A victim reported being physically assaulted by an unknown male suspect.  Victim sustained a broken nose.  Investigation continuing. 

NORTH: Disturbance – 12:25 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 70-year-old female suspect.  The suspect was arrested for 2nd degree reckless endangering safety.  A 57-year-old male suspect was arrested for a probation violation. 

EAST: Weapons Violation – 2:17 a.m.  Officers responded to reports of shots fired from a vehicle.  A victim sustained non-life threatening injuries.  Victim vehicle had numerous bullet holes in it.  Investigation continuing.    

EAST: Disturbance – 3:34 a.m.  Officers responded to a vehicle fully engulfed in flames.  Officers determined a disturbance had occurred between two subjects.  Investigation continuing. 

CENTRAL: Drug Incident – 12:41 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a 42-year-old female suspect experiencing a drug overdose.  Suspect conveyed to a local hospital and given an order in for possession of heroin.   

WEST: Weapons Violation – 12:56 p.m.  A suspect in a vehicle fired numerous rounds at another subject.  Investigation continuing. 

EAST: Adult Arrested Person – 3:00 p.m.  A 44-year-old male suspect was arrested for numerous counts of retail theft.   

CENTRAL: Damage to Property – 3:48 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence where damage was done to a window believed to have been from a firearm.  No injuries sustained.  No evidence of a bullet located.  Unknown what caused the damage at this time. 

MIDTOWN: Death Investigation – 4:27 p.m. Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject.  Entry made to the residence and the subject (67-year-old female) was located deceased.  Medical Examiner's office responded.  Nothing suspicious identified. 

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 4:34 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 23-year-old male suspect.  Suspect not on scene when officers arrived.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located. 

WEST: Sexual Assault – 4:40 p.m.  A victim reported being sexually assaulted.  Investigation continuing. 

WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 4:47 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 29-year-old male suspect.  Suspect not on scene when officers arrived.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect once he is located. 

CENTRAL: Check Person – 6:59 p.m.  Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject.  Subject contacted and subsequently placed into protective custody.  The subject was conveyed to a local hospital.  Journey Mental Health consulted.  Final outcome pending. 

EAST: Stolen Auto – 8:23 p.m. A stolen vehicle from Chicago was located fully engulfed on the side of the road.  Vehicle towed. 

WEST: Adult Arrested Person – 8:28 p.m. Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated suspect (37-year-old female) and concerns for her children in her care.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting.  The children were turned over to the care of a relative. 

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 8:55 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 40-year-old female suspect.  The suspect was arrested for domestic battery.

NORTH: Check Property – 10:04 p.m.  Officers made contact with a subject who reported a subject in a vehicle shot several times near her.  Areas checked and there was no evidence of shots fired.  No other reports of sounds of shots fired.  Report not substantiated. 

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 10:15 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 41-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct. 

WEST: Missing/Runaway Juvenile – 10:42 p.m.  Officers received a report of a missing/runaway juvenile (17-year-old male).  Attempt to locate aired.  The juvenile was listed as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases.

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 11:57 p.m. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver/suspect (28-year-old male) was arrested for possession with intent to deliver THC.
