MPD Notable Calls 05/20/2022 to 05/23/2022

The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
From 6:00 a.m. on 05/20/2022 through 6:00 a.m. on 05/23/2022, MPD received 1,121 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (241), East (210), Midtown (173), North (172), South (105), West (151), and Other (69). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

05/20
NORTH: Check Person – 8:15 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence for a subject who was suicidal.  MFD paramedics transported the subject voluntarily to the hospital where she was left in the care of medical staff.

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 9:14 a.m.  The victim reported that the suspect (32-year-old male) was arguing with her and she feared that he was going to assault her.  Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for domestic disorderly conduct.  The suspect is at large.


EAST: Check Person – 1:44 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence for a subject who was suicidal.  Mental Health was consulted and a safety plan was put in place.

SOUTH: Disturbance – 4:10 p.m.  Officers investigated a report of a fight on a Metro bus involving the suspect (30-year-old female) and four unidentified juveniles.  The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.  Investigation continuing.

CENTRAL: Drug Overdose – 5:29 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence where the suspect (47-year-old male) overdosed on heroin.  Officers administered naloxone and revived the suspect who was transported to the hospital.  The suspect was charged with possession of narcotics and offered participation in the MAARI program.

MIDTOWN: Domestic Disturbance – 9:00 p.m.  The victim reported that the suspect (35-year-old male) punched the victim's son in the head.  The suspect then pushed the victim when she attempted to intervene.  The suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic battery and disorderly conduct.

SOUTH: Mental Health Conveyance – 11:04 p.m.  Officers responded to a hospital for a patient under an emergency detention who needed to be transported to a mental health facility.  The transport was completed without incident.

Priority calls only from 4:47 p.m. to 4:57 p.m. due to calls for service.

MIDTOWN: Residential Burglary – 1:48 a.m.  The victim reported hearing someone enter their garage. The victim called out to the intruder and called 911. Investigation continuing.
 
CENTRAL: Robbery – 3:46 a.m.  The victim reported he was followed and robbed while walking home. Investigation continuing.
 
WEST: Death Investigation – 6:10 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence for a check welfare request. They discovered the subject (62-year-old male) deceased.  Nothing suspicious on scene.

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 9:48 a.m.  During an argument, the suspect (23-year-old male) poured coffee on the victim.  The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.

SOUTH: Check Person – 10:48 a.m. – Officers called to check on a person who contacted a suicide hotline. The person was transported to the hospital.

MIDTOWN: Disturbance– 2:00 p.m. – Suspect (36-year-old male) observed using a knife to dig in the ground near a playground. Officers arrive and convince the suspect to put the knife down. The suspect was taken to the hospital and a controlled substance is found in his system. Probable cause exists for disorderly conduct while armed, CDTP, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, felony bail jumping, and misdemeanor bail jumping.

WEST: Assist EMS/Fire – 4:24 p.m. Officers called to assist with a person who attempted suicide. Person transported to a hospital. 

MIDTOWN: Check Person – 4:37 p.m. Officers advised of a suicidal subject on a pedestrian overpass. After talking with officers, the person was transported to the hospital. 

SOUTH: Sexual Assault of a Child – 5:50 p.m. Officers called to investigate a sexual assault of a child. CPS was notified and a safety plan was established.

WEST: Death Investigation – 8:35 p.m.  Woman arrived home to find a 69-year-old male deceased. Nothing suspicious was found at the scene. 

MIDTOWN: Domestic Disturbance – 9:06 p.m. Victim reported fighting with a 33-year-old male. Neighbors came to check on the woman and her child. The suspect yelled and spit at them. The suspect is at large. 

CITY-WIDE: Missing Adult – 9:22 Woman called to report a man missing and endangered. The man was in town from Milwaukee and his phone appears to be disconnected. 

CENTRAL: OWVWI Arrest/Intoxicated Driver – 9:50 Staff at a parking lot ramp called to report someone driving "crazy" through the facility. Dispatch told the driver as blocking traffic and arguing with people. 32-year-old woman arrested for 3rd OWI.

EAST: OMVWI Arrest/Intoxicated Driver – 9:59 p.m. Officers dispatched to a rollover crash. The suspect, who was intoxicated, struck a parked car and rolled his vehicle. 55-year-old male arrested for 4th offense OWI.

CENTRAL: Check Property – 10:28 p.m. Officers noticed a vehicle in a lot where a "No Trespassing" sign is posted. Officers arrived to find a box for a gun in the car. A loaded gun, loaded magazines and marijuana found in the vehicle. The suspect was cited for trespassing, possession of marijuana, and illegal tint. Officers kept the gun and gave the suspect a receipt.

 MIDTOWN: Disturbance Unwanted Person – 11:28 p.m. Officers called to the lobby of a local hospital after a woman threatened staff and hit a random car. Officers contacted Journey Mental Health and helped with a safety plan for the woman. Officers were then approached by a male who said the woman hit him. The woman also kicked a responding officer. She was arrested for disorderly conduct, domestic disorderly conduct and battery to a police officer.

CENTRAL: Suspicious Vehicle –  11:28 p.m. Officers could detect the smell of marijuana coming from a vehicle. The driver left the vehicle parked in front of a business. Officers noticed four guns in the vehicle along with open liquor containers. Vehicle towed for further inspection. 

SOUTH: Domestic Disturbance – 11:32 p.m. Suspect and juvenile at a party. The suspect threatened the juvenile after she asked to leave. The suspect (40-year-old male) was arrested for disorderly conduct.

WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 4:09 a.m. A 27-year-old man arrived home and began physically attacking the victim. The suspect was arrested for domestic battery, domestic disorderly conduct, DTP and disorderly conduct charges.

WEST: Stolen Auto – 5:24 a.m. A man woke up to find someone broke into his home. A vehicle and purse were stolen. 

EAST: Death Investigation – 9:50 a.m. Officers arrived to a residence to find a male deceased inside. The man had a history of medical conditions. Nothing suspicious was found at the scene.

CENTRAL: Sexual Assault – 3:10 p.m. Woman told officers she was sexually assaulted during a welfare check. Victim going for a medical exam.

WEST: Disturbance – 4:35 p.m. Officers called after a juvenile physically attacked a family member. The juvenile was taken to the hospital and a safety plan was put into place. 

NORTH: Death Investigation – 3:52 p.m. Officers called to check on a man at a residence. Man found deceased. 

WEST: Disturbance – 4:35 p.m. Officers called during a disturbance between neighbors. One of the parties involved armed himself with a scooter. 

MIDTOWN: Stalking Complaint – 6:25 p.m. Victim reported a high volume of messages and calls he has received from the suspect to officers. As he is reporting this, the suspect once again tries to contact him. Officers talk to her and she arrives at the police station and is taken into custody for stalking.

EAST: Fight Call – 8:25 p.m. Officers were dispatched to a restaurant bar for a fight involving five people. The suspect was being held down in the bar when officers arrived. The suspect was very intoxicated. Suspect was taken to the hospital for a med clear. Will face resisting, threats to law enforcement and disorderly conduct charges.

NORTH: Armed Robbery – 11:29 p.m. Officers investigating a robbery at a convenience store. A man approached the counter and demanded money. The suspect did not display a gun but implied he had one on him. Probable cause for armed robbery.

MIDTOWN: Battery – 12:59 a.m. A suspect kicked a nurse while receiving care at a local hospital. Will be arrested for battery once released from the hospital.

EAST: Check Property – 1:51 a.m. Multiple callers reported hearing several gunshots. No casings, damage or injured people were located.
