The information provided below about some of the calls officers responded to is derived from notes provided by MPD Officers-In-Charge (OIC) at the end of their shifts. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered by an OIC from those in the field who were actively working cases. The OIC is sharing what they were being told, in the moment. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as officers, detectives and investigators continue their work.

From 6:00 a.m. on 10/07/2021 through 6:00 a.m. on 10/08/2021, MPD received 342 calls for service.  This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.  A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (79), East (74), Midtown (65), North (47), South (26), West (38), and Other (13).  "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City.  This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

CENTRAL: Check Person – 6:40 am.  Officers responded to a residence for a subject (37-year-old male) who reported he was suicidal.  The subject was placed into protective custody and transported to the hospital.  Journey Mental Health was consulted.

EAST: Trespass – 12:40 pm.  Officers responded to a store at East Towne Mall where the suspect (23-year-old male) had been banned for previous harassing behavior.  The suspect was arrested and charged with trespassing.

CENTRAL: ATL Person – 3:23 pm.  The suspect (51-year-old male) punched his apartment door and refused to exit his residence when officers arrived on scene.  Journey Mental Health issued a Chapter 51 return but officers' attempts to make contact with the suspect have thus far been unsuccessful.

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 3:40 pm.  Officers responded to a residence where the suspect (43-year-old male) was yelling at and threatening the victim over money owed.  The suspect fled the scene and is at large.  Officers developed probable cause to charge the suspect with domestic disorderly conduct and resisting.

SOUTH: Death Investigation – 6:51 pm.  A family member requested that officers check the welfare of a subject (26-year-old male).  Officers discovered the subject deceased in his residence.  Nothing suspicious on scene.  Medical examiner responded.

WEST: Runaway Juvenile – 7:34 pm.  The mother of an 11-year-old reported her daughter had left home without permission.  The juvenile was listed as missing and an ATL was aired.

CENTRAL: Missing Adult – 7:46 pm.  A subject (74-year-old female) was reported missing when she did not return home after a walk.  The subject later returned home and was fine.

MIDTOWN: Mental Health Conveyance – 10:25 pm.  A patient at a local hospital was placed under an emergency detention.  Officers transported the subject to WMHI.

CENTRAL: Check Person – 10:29 pm.  Officers responded to a residence for a subject (20-year-old female) who was possibly suicidal.  Officers consulted with Journey Mental Health.  Officers determined the subject was safe at home before disengaging.

CENTRAL: Traffic Crash – 1:14 am.   An Uber driver was parked on W Gilman St near State St when the suspect driver (20-year-old female) struck the back of the Uber.  The suspect was cited for inattentive driving.
