The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 07/15/2022 through 6:00 a.m. on 07/18/2022, MPD received 1,322 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (278), East (250), Midtown (188), North (245), South (111), West (203), and Other (47). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

07/15

NORTH: Weapons Offense – 7:34 a.m.  A caller to dispatch reported observing the driver of a vehicle shooting at another driver near the intersection of N Stoughton Rd and Kinsman Blvd.  Officers checked the area and did not locate any fired shell casings, property damage or signs of injured persons.

MIDTOWN: Stolen Auto – 9:21 a.m.  An officer observed a vehicle with damage that might indicate the vehicle was stolen.  The vehicle then left the area at a high rate of speed.  Upon making contact with the registered owner, officers determined the vehicle was in fact stolen but had not yet been reported as such.  Attempt to locate aired.  The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.  **The vehicle was later located/recovered unoccupied.

MIDTOWN: Damage to Property – 9:37 a.m.  The victim reported that her vehicle was damaged while parked at her residence in an apparent attempt to steal the car.  Investigation continuing.

EAST: Adult Arrested Person – 12:25 p.m.  Officers located a suspect (34-year-old male) wanted for multiple burglaries.  The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

MIDTOWN: Stolen Auto – 1:37 p.m.  U-Haul staff reported a truck was stolen from their lot at 4716 Verona Rd.  The truck was located a short time later unoccupied on N Yellowstone Dr.  U-Haul staff retrieved the truck.

MIDTOWN: Attempt to Locate – 3:30 p.m.  DOC requested that officers attempt to take into custody a wanted suspect (25-year-old male).  Officers attempted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle but the vehicle fled and officers did not pursue.

NORTH: Traffic Incident – 4:10 p.m.  Officers observed suspicious activity in a parking lot and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on an involved vehicle.  The suspect vehicle fled the stop and officers did not pursue.  Officers developed probable cause to arrest the driver/suspect (25-year-old male) for eluding.  Investigation continuing.

NORTH: Drug Incident/Investigation – 7:21 p.m.  An officer observed a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot and determined there was a warrant for the registered owner.  The officer contacted the suspect (36-year-old female) who was arrested for possession of heroin and meth.

MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 8:12 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence where a victim reported the suspect (50-year-old male) used derogatory language and threatened to kill him.  At that time, the victim did not wish to pursue a complaint and officers disengaged.  A short time later, officers were called back where a second victim reported that the suspect was in the street swearing and yelling about shooting people.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct, disorderly conduct with a hate crime enhancer, and resisting.

SOUTH: Drug Overdose – 10:34 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence for a subject/suspect (31-year-old male) who was not breathing.  Officers administered naloxone and revived the suspect who was transported to the hospital.  The suspect was cited for possession of heroin and was referred to the MAARI program.

WEST: Stolen Auto – 11:29 p.m.  The victim reported her vehicle was stolen from where she parked it on the street while visiting a family member. Attempt to locate aired.  The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.

EAST: Hit and Run Crash – 11:50 p.m.  Officers responded to the 5100 block of Wintergreen Dr for a car that crashed into a mailbox and a tree.  The caller to dispatch reported seeing two vehicles driving at high rate of speed in the neighborhood just before the crash.  The caller reported seeing four teenagers fleeing the scene in the second vehicle after the first vehicle crashed.  Officers contacted the registered owner of the crashed vehicle and determined it had been stolen.  Investigation continuing.

EAST: Weapons Offense Shots Fired – 11:53 p.m.  Officers responded to the 2900 block of Milwaukee St where several callers reported hearing shots fired.  Officers located spent shell casings and two damaged, unoccupied and uninvolved vehicles.  Investigation continuing.  Incident report completed on MPD website.

CENTRAL: Disturbance – 12:42 a.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 42-year-old male suspect.  Witnesses reported that the suspect motioned to a gun at his hip during the argument.  Officers located the suspect who was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and possession with intent methamphetamine.

WEST: Death Investigation – 1:02 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence where a family member discovered the subject (51-year-old male) deceased.  Nothing suspicious on scene.

?NORTH: Stolen Auto – 9:10 am.  The victim reported his car was stolen sometime overnight from a parking lot at his residence.   Attempt to locate aired.  The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.  **The vehicle was later located/recovered unoccupied. 

EAST: Domestic Disturbance – 10:04 a.m.  During an argument, the suspect (59-year-old male) struck the victim and threatened her.  The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and battery.

EAST: Child Abuse – 3:07 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a minor and a 22-year-old female suspect.  The suspect was arrested for physical abuse to a child. 

EAST: Recovered/Stolen Vehicle – 3:12 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of a suspicious U-Haul van that had gone off-road.  A 47-year-old male suspect was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent and a probation/parole hold.  The U-Haul was recovered/towed. 

SOUTH: Adult Arrested Person – 3:35 p.m.  Officers responded to a park for a report of a 22-year-old male suspect exposing himself.  The suspect was arrested for lewd/lascivious behavior. 

NORTH: Adult Arrested Person – 5:46 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance.  A 63-year-old male suspect was arrested for violating a temporary restraining order, resisting and felony bail jumping. 

CENTRAL: Sexual Assault – 7:09 p.m.  A 31-year-old female suspect was arrested for 4th degree sexual assault. 

MIDTOWN: Adult Arrested Person – 7:18 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of an unwanted subject/suspect (40-year-old male).  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct and discharging bodily fluids. 

WEST: Stolen Auto – 8:35 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of several juveniles attempting to steal a vehicle.  Officers arrived on scene and were able to apprehend/detain four suspects.  A 16-year-old male suspect was arrested for criminal damage to property (party to a crime), entry to locked vehicle and obstructing.  A second 16-year-old male suspect was arrested for criminal damage to property (party to a crime), entry to locked vehicle and obstructing.  A 13-year-old male suspect was arrested for criminal damage to property (party to a crime), entry to locked vehicle and obstructing.  A 15-year-old male suspect was arrested for criminal damage to property (party to a crime), entry to locked vehicle and obstructing.

EAST: Death Investigation – 8:42 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence for a report of a deceased subject (38-year-old male).  Medical Examiner's office responded.  Decedent has a history of alcohol abuse.  Nothing suspicious identified at this time.  Autopsy scheduled.   

SOUTH: Stolen Auto – 10:44 p.m.  Officers responded to an unoccupied vehicle that was running in a driveway.  Attempts to contact registered owner not successful.  Vehicle towed. 

EAST: Check Person – 11:15 p.m.  Officers responded to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject.  The subject was conveyed to a local hospital.  Journey Mental Health plugged in.  Emergency detention sought but not approved.  The subject was left in the care of medical staff and officers disengaged.   

CENTRAL: Domestic Disturbance – 11:33 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 22-year-old female suspect.  The suspect was arrested for domestic battery and a probation/parole. 

CENTRAL: Disturbance – 11:34 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 31-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct and threats to law enforcement (2 counts).

Priority calls only from 4:05 p.m. to 8:14 p.m. due to calls for service.

NORTH: Hit-and-Run/Crash – 1:06 a.m.  An off-duty law enforcement officer observed a driver/vehicle crash into another vehicle (unoccupied) and leave the area.  Investigation continuing. 

WEST: Stolen Auto – 1:37 a.m.  A vehicle was reported stolen.  The vehicle was observed and a traffic stop was attempted by Fitchburg PD but the driver/vehicle did not stop.  Attempt to locate aired.  The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases. 

EAST: Hit-and-Run/Crash – 3:31 a.m.  Officers responded to a vehicle vs building crash.  A witness observed several subjects fleeing on foot from the crashed vehicle.  Investigation continuing. 

MIDTOWN: Missing Adult – 3:33 a.m.  A 49-year-old female was reported as missing.  Attempt to locate aired.  Areas checked.  No physical or mental health concerns notated. 

NORTH: Adult Arrested Person – 7:59 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a suspicious subject/suspect (29-year-old male).  The suspect was arrested for being in possession of IDs/credit cards not belonging to him and a probation/parole hold.    

SOUTH: Stolen Auto – 10:04 a.m.  A vehicle was reported stolen.  Victim identified the suspect.  Attempt to locate aired.  The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases. 

EAST: Death Investigation – 12:19 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (73-year-old male).  Medical Examiner's office responded.  Nothing suspicious identified. 

NORTH: Adult Arrested Person – 1:33 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of a couple using drugs with an infant in the vehicle.  Officers arrived and the vehicle drove away.  A traffic stop was attempted and the vehicle/driver fled and ended up crashing.  The female adult and child were not injured.  The male driver/suspect (32-year-old male) fled on foot but was apprehended.  The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, eluding, hit-and-run and an outstanding warrant. 

NORTH: Crash – 2:46 p.m.  A driver/victim was sitting at a red light when they were struck by another vehicle.  The suspect vehicle fled.  The victim was conveyed to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Investigation continuing.

CENTRAL: Sexual Assault – 3:50 p.m.  A victim reported being sexually assaulted a few months ago.  Investigation continuing. 

MIDTOWN: Child Neglect – 4:19 p.m.  Officers initially responded to a check property request.  A young child was found to be cared for by an intoxicated parent/suspect (36-year-old female).  The suspect was cited for child neglect.  Child Protective Services notified.  The second parent returned home to care for the child.

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 4:20 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of a 41-year-old female suspect performing inappropriate acts in the park and injuring a victim with a knife.  The suspect was arrested for lewd/lascivious behavior, 2nd degree reckless endangering safety and disorderly conduct while armed. 

EAST: Adult Arrested Person – 5:00 p.m.  A 24-year-old male suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and possession of drug paraphernalia.

EAST: Adult Arrested Person – 5:17 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 33-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and bail jumping.   

WEST: Non-Residential Burglary – 6:01 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of burglary.  The suspect was not on scene when officers arrived.  Investigation continuing.

NORTH: Death Investigation – 6:25 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (86-year-old female).  Nothing suspicious identified.    

NORTH: Disturbance – 6:35 p.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving two subjects/suspects.  The suspects were not on scene when officers arrived.  Probable cause developed to arrest the suspects once they are located. 

WEST: Threats Complaint – 8:34 p.m.  Officers received a report of a threats complaint involving a minor who showed pictures of a gun on social media.  Investigation continuing. 

CENTRAL: Crash – 8:51 p.m.  Officers responded to a crash on John Nolen Drive.  Witnesses observed two subjects from the crashed vehicle leave the area in another vehicle.  The crashed vehicle was determined to be stolen.  Registered owner contacted.  Investigation continuing. 

MIDTOWN: Stolen Auto – 9:47 p.m.  A vehicle was reported stolen.  Victim identified possible suspects.  Attempt to locate aired.  The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases. 

MIDTOWN: Damage to Property – 10:44 p.m.  Officers responded to reports of subjects trying to break into vehicles at a dealership.  A vehicle was located with a broken window.  No suspects on scene.  Investigation continuing. 

WEST: Suspicious Vehicle – 11:38 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle with broken windows and reports that several subjects were seen running from the vehicle.  Vehicle determined to be a rental.  Officers had tried to stop the vehicle in previous days but the driver/vehicle fled.  Investigation continuing. 

SOUTH: Recovered/Stolen Auto – 11:52 p.m.  A vehicle stolen out of Chicago was located unoccupied in a parking lot.  Vehicle towed.  Registered owner notified. 

07/18

MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 12:58 a.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 40-year-old female suspect.  The suspect was arrested for strangulation. 

WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 1:34 a.m.  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 45-year-old male suspect.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed, domestic disorderly conduct while armed, domestic battery, carrying a concealed weapon, criminal damage to property, felony bail jumping (2 counts), misdemeanor bail jumping, 3 outstanding warrants and a probation/parole hold.

NORTH: Recovered/Stolen Auto – 1:49 a.m.  A stolen vehicle was observed in a parking lot.  A 25-year-old male suspect was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent, possession of schedule II narcotics and outstanding warrants. 

MIDTOWN: Stolen Auto – 4:24 a.m.  A vehicle was reported stolen.  Attempt to locate aired.  The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.
