The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
From 6:00 a.m. on 7/24/2025 through 6:00 a.m. on 7/25/2025, MPD received 451 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (77),East (99), Midtown (71), North (64), South (57), West (73), and Other (10). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Central/Adult Arrested Person – 5:47am: Officers responded to a report of a subject (40-year-old male) in the water yelling for help (Lake Mendota). The subject was uncooperative with officers. The subject made suicidal statements. The subject was able to be redirected out of the water and into an ambulance. The subject attempted to get out of the ambulance as they were enroute to a local hospital. Emergency detention not supported. The subject was arrested for resisting/obstructing.
West/Adult Arrested Person – 8:55am: Officers received a report that an 18-year-old male subject was in possession of a firearm (subject is on probation/parole). The subject was contacted and arrested. Act 29 search completed which resulted in locating a firearm magazine, loose rounds, and other firearm-related equipment. No gun was located. The subject was transported to jail on a probation/parole hold/warrant.
South/Traffic Arrest – 10:17am: A traffic stop was attempted. The driver/subject (17-year-old male) abruptly made two left turns and quickly exited his vehicle in an effort to enter his residence. The subject was detained. The subject was confrontational and physically resisted officers. The subject was arrested for operating after suspension, resisting, and cited for speeding.
West/Check Person – 4:45pm: Officers responded to a local hospital for a subject in need of an emergency detention. Transport to Winnebago pending.
East/Domestic Disturbance – 6:15pm: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 53-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and threats to law enforcement.
East/Death Investigation – 6:35pm: Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (89-year-old male). Nothing suspicious identified.
East/Adult Arrested Person – 8:21pm: A traffic stop was conducted. Drugs were observed in plain view. Search of the vehicle yielded a loaded handgun. The driver/subject (63-year-old male) was arrested for possession of cocaine and carrying a concealed weapon. A passenger (49-year-old female) was arrested on a probation/parole warrant.
North/Stolen Auto – 11pm: A vehicle was reported stolen. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.
