City-Wide Notable Calls 07/16/2025 to 07/17/2025

The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
 

From 6:00 a.m. on 7/16/2025 through 6:00 a.m. on 7/17/2025, MPD received 467 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (72),East (114), Midtown (60), North (80), South (57), West (68), and Other (16). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

West/Domestic Disturbance – 4:16am: Officers respond to a physical fight between family members. A 45-year-old man was arrested for domestic physical abuse of an elder person.

North/Recovered Vehicle Outside Agency – 2:32pm: A deputy spots a stolen vehicle at a gas station and contacts MPD for assistance. High-risk traffic stop done and a 31-year-oldm mail is taken into custody for operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent and bail jumping.

Midtown/Accident with Injuries – 2:54pm: Man crashed his electric scooter in the rain. He was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. The man had a warrant for failure to appear on domestic charges and was taken into custody after being released from the hospital.

Midtown/Conveyance – 3:11pm: A man was placed in protective custody and mental health professionals were consulted. 

Midtown/Assist Police  – 4:04pm: Officers responded to reports of a sexual assault. Incident occurred in another city and that city's police department took over the investigation. 

South/Disturbance – 5:54pm: Officers respond to the South Transfer Point for a disturbance on a bus. Man arrested for disorderly conduct and battery to transit vehicle passenger.

West/Theft – 6:53pm: Officers investigating a theft by a company employee. A 27-year-old man was arrested for theft by virtue of employment.

Midtown/Accident with Injuries – 12:31am: Officers dispatched after hearing sounds of a crash. They arrived to a find a vehicle crashed into a retaining wall and on the sidewalk. Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash. Driver cited for reckless driving, underage person transporting intoxicants in a motor vehicle, and possession of liquor of an adult less than 20 years of age. The driver was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
