The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last twenty-four (24) hours. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
From 6:00 a.m. on 07/31/2025 through 6:00 a.m. on 08/01/2025, MPD received 480 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (86), East (93), Midtown (77), North (76), South (61), West (71), and Other (16). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

EAST: Trespass – 8:08 am. Officers responded to the 1700 block of Eagan Rd where two people were sleeping behind a business. A 56-year-old male was arrested on a warrant.
WEST: Retail Theft – 11:47 am. Staff at Pick N Save reported that the 30-year-old male suspect left the store with merchandise he had not paid for. The suspect was arrested and charged with retail theft and obstructing.
NORTH: Disturbance – 11:49 am. A victim reported that the 19-year-old male suspect grabbed her and strangled her. The suspect was arrested and charged with strangulation, battery and disorderly conduct.
WEST: Domestic Disturbance – 1:55 pm. Officers responded to a residence where the 12-year-old male suspect struck the victim and attempted to lock her out of the house. The suspect was charged with battery and disorderly conduct and conveyed to JRC.
CENTRAL: Disturbance – 4:08 pm. Officers responded to the 200 block of State St where the 46-year-old male suspect had threatened the caller and was using drugs. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia, threats to LE, and multiple counts of felony bail jumping.
CITY-WIDE: Assist Police – 4:12 pm. Officers assisted State Patrol and Dane County Sheriff with an investigation into a shooting on the interstate.
MIDTOWN: Domestic Disturbance – 8:27 pm. Officers responded to a residence where the 51-year-old female suspect slapped one of the victims and armed herself with a knife. The suspect was arrested and charged with physical abuse of a child and two counts of disorderly conduct while armed (one with a domestic enhancer).
CENTRAL: Animal Complaint – 9:29 pm. Officers responded to a vehicle where a dog was locked inside, barking and panting heavily. Callers to dispatch reported the dog had been in the vehicle for over 30 minutes. Unable to contact the registered owner of the vehicle, officers forced entry and rescued the dog. The 53-year-old male suspect was cited for animal cruelty and leaving animal in parked vehicle for more than 15 mins.

CENTRAL: Mental Health Conveyance – 1:56 am. Officers assisted Journey Mental Health with an emergency detention.
