The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to from Friday morning to Monday morning. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00 a.m. on 02/17/2023 through 6:00 a.m. on 02/20/2023, MPD received 1,173 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (228), East (254), Midtown (171), North (214), South (115), West (136), and Other (55). "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

02/17

WEST: Overdose – 4:08 a.m.  Officers and MFD paramedics responded to a residence where a subject had overdosed.  The subject was transported to a hospital where she was placed into protective custody under an emergency detention.  The subject was admitted to the hospital for psychiatric care.

SOUTH: Juvenile Arrest – 8:51 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence to take into custody a juvenile who was to be returned to a group home out of state.  Officers transported the juvenile to the Juvenile Reception Center where she was to be picked up by an outside agency.

EAST: Death Investigation – 11:28 a.m.  A friend discovered the 75-year-old subject deceased in his residence.  Nothing suspicious on scene.

NORTH: Adult Arrested Person – 11:38 a.m.  Officers located and took into custody a 34-year-old male suspect who was wanted on numerous charges.  The suspect was conveyed to jail.

EAST: Disturbance – 12:09 p.m.  Staff at Motel 6 banned the 45-year-old male suspect for making unwanted advances towards female staff.  The suspect then called staff names and knocked things off the front counter.  The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct.

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 1:27 p.m.  The victim reported that during an argument, the 21-year-old male suspect struck her in the face.  Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for domestic disorderly conduct and battery.  Suspect is at large.

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 6:21 p.m.  An officer on routine patrol observed a 52-year-old male suspect who was wanted.  The suspect was taken into custody and conveyed to jail.

CENTRAL: Domestic Disturbance – 7:03 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence where the 32-year-old male suspect was outside the victim's door, kicking it in an attempt to gain entry.  The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.

MIDTOWN: Death Investigation – 7:23 p.m.  Officers and MFD paramedics responded to a residence where a 64-year-old male subject slipped and fell on an icy driveway at his residence.  The subject was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

WEST: Mental Health Conveyance – 8:10 p.m.  Officers conveyed a juvenile subject from a local hospital to a mental health facility.

CENTRAL: Death Investigation – 9:01 p.m.  Officers responded to a report of a 37-year-old male subject face down on the sidewalk.  The subject was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

CENTRAL: Strong Arm Robbery – 9:48 p.m.  Officers responded to the 200 block of State St where the 43-year-old male suspect took cash from a juvenile victim who had approached him.  The suspect was arrested for strong arm robbery, disorderly conduct and bail jumping.

EAST: Child Abuse – 11:45 p.m.  Officers responded to a residence where the 33-year-old female suspect and her daughter were arguing.  Officers mediated the situation and both parties agreed to remain separated in the home for the rest of the night. Shortly after officers disengaged, dispatch received a call from security at Kwik Trip reporting that the juvenile was there with injuries.  The victim then reported to officers that the suspect had pulled her hair, scratched and punched her.  Officers developed probable cause to charge the suspect with physical abuse to a child.  Officers contacted CPS.  Suspect remains at large.

CENTRAL: Battery – 1:16 a.m.  Officers responded to the area of W Johnson St and East Campus Mall for a 19-year-old male suspect who punched a JBM security guard.  The suspect was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct.

CENTRAL: Check Person – 9:12 a.m.  Officers received a request from a subject who wished to go to the hospital to speak with a mental health professional.  Officers conveyed the subject to the hospital without incident and left the subject in the care of hospital staff.

MIDTOWN: Traffic Stop – 11:30 a.m.  An officer conducting routine patrol conducted a traffic stop on a 64-year-old male suspect who had warrants for his arrest.  The suspect was conveyed to jail.

CENTRAL: Disturbance – 11:17 a.m.  Officers responded to a business where the 35-year-old male suspect had been asked to leave.  The suspect then proceeded to disturb people around the capitol square.  The suspect was arrested and conveyed to jail.  No information about charges was available at the time of this writing.

CENTRAL: Trespass – 11:52 a.m.  Officers responded to a report of a female suspect sleeping in front of the main doors.  The suspect was arrested for trespassing.

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 2:33 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 53-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct.

NORTH: Fire – 3:01 p.m. Officers responded, along with MFD, to a small fire in a trash can. MFD has the lead on this investigation.

EAST: Crash – 3:54 p.m. A driver struck a parked vehicle and injured himself and a second subject. Both subjects conveyed to a local hospital. OWI charges being explored for the driver. Investigation continuing.

NORTH: Adult Arrested Person – 4:03 p.m. A traffic stop was conducted and a 22-year-old male subject was arrested for possession with intent to deliver marijuana.

EAST: Stolen Auto – 4:45 p.m. A stolen vehicle was located/recovered in Milwaukee. 

MIDTOWN: Sexual Assault of a Child – 7:50 p.m. A sexual assault of a child was reported. Investigation continuing.

NORTH: Traffic Stop – 7:51 p.m. A traffic stop was attempted but the driver/vehicle fled. Probable cause developed to arrest the registered owner of the vehicle.

CENTRAL: Battery – 11:25 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 28-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for battery, resisting and misdemeanor bail jumping.

Priority calls only from 1:35 a.m. to 3:02 a.m. due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 9:33 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. due to calls for service.

CENTRAL: Disturbance – 12:47 a.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 33-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and discharging bodily fluids.

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 1:18 a.m. Officers observed a large bag of what appeared to be marijuana in a vehicle. A 25-year-old male subject was arrested for possession with intent to deliver THC, bail jumping and outstanding warrants. A 25-year-old male subject was arrested for possession with intent to deliver THC, felon in possession of a firearm and bail jumping (2 counts).

CENTRAL: Adult Arrested Person – 2:18 a.m. A victim was punched in the face and knocked out.  The victim's friend (24-year-old male) caused a disturbance. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct (2 counts), resisting and trespass to a medical facility. The suspect who punched the victim remains at-large.

WEST: Intoxicated Driver – 5:24 a.m. Officers responded to a crash. The driver (25-year-old female) was found to be impaired. The subject was processed for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense).

CENTRAL: Battery – 8:53 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a battery. The victim was conveyed to a local hospital for stitches. Investigation continuing.

MIDTOWN: Stolen Auto – 11:17 a.m. A vehicle was reported stolen. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.

WEST: Intoxicated Driver – 12:15 p.m. Officers responded to a single vehicle crash. The driver (24-year-old male) was determined to be impaired. The driver was cited for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (2nd offense), failure to keep vehicle under control, unsafe passing on right and unreasonable/imprudent speed.

MIDTOWN: Missing/Runaway Juvenile – 3:42 p.m. An 11-year-old female was reported as missing/runaway. Attempt to locate aired. The juvenile was listed as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases. *Juvenile located and returned home.

CITY-WIDE: Domestic Disturbance – 6:03 p.m. Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 27-year-old male subject. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject on numerous charges. The subject remains at-large.

MIDTOWN: Disturbance – 9:30 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a large fight with a report that someone had been shot.  No injured subjects were located. Several subjects were cited/released from the scene.

EAST: Mutual Aid – 10:20 p.m. Officers assisted another law enforcement agency with traffic direction due to a crash.

CENTRAL: Check Person – 11:17 p.m. A suicidal subject was conveyed to a local hospital and left in the care of medical staff.

NORTH: Intoxicated Driver – 2:25 a.m. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver (22-year-old male) was determined to be impaired. The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense).
