MPD Notable Calls 10/23/2019 to 10/24/2019

The information provided below about some of the calls officers responded to is derived from notes provided by MPD Officers-In-Charge (OIC) at the end of their shifts. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered by an OIC from those in the field who were actively working cases. The OIC is sharing what they were being told, in the moment. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as officers, detectives and investigators continue their work.

From 6:00 a.m. on 10/23/2019 through 6:00 a.m. on 10/24/2019, MPD received 456 calls for service.  This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials. 

 

WEST: Missing/Runaway Juvenile – 7:50 a.m.  Officers responded to a west side residence for a report of a missing/runaway juvenile.  The juvenile has a history of running away.  Areas checked.  Attempt to locate aired.  The juvenile was entered as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases.  

MIDTOWN: Stolen Auto – 8:00 a.m.  Officers responded to a residence for a report of a stolen vehicle.  The vehicle had been left unlocked and the keys were in the vehicle.  Attempt to locate aired.  The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases. 

WEST: Damage to Property – 11:06 a.m.  Officers responded to a business on Schroeder Rd for damage (bullet hole) to a door.  Investigation on-going. 

WEST: Trespass – 2:00 p.m.  Officers responded to a west side residence, that is currently vacant and for rent, for trespassing issues.  Items at the home were located with potential suspect information.  Investigation continuing. 

EAST: Check Person – 3:29 p.m.  Officers responded to an east side residence to check the welfare of a potential suicidal subject.  No legal grounds to take the subject into protective custody at this time. 

CENTRAL: Drug Investigation/Check Person – 3:47 p.m.  Officers responded to Langdon St for a report of a suspicious vehicle/occupant.  Contact was made with the driver/suspect (34-year-old male).  A consent search was conducted and drug paraphernalia was located.  The suspect was referred to the Madison Addiction Recovery Initiative and released from the scene.  Around 8:50 p.m. Officers were dispatched to W. Gorham St for a report of a suicidal subject.  The subject was confirmed to be the same in both incidents.  The subject was contacted and conveyed to a local hospital where he was voluntarily admitted.  Journey Mental Health consulted. 

CENTRAL: Disturbance – 4:20 p.m.  Officers responded to the 600 block of W. Washington Ave for a disturbance between two subjects (male victim and 34-year-old female suspect).  The suspect was not on scene when officers arrived.  Probable cause was developed to arrest the suspect, once she is located, for battery and disorderly conduct (2 counts).    

EAST: Adult Arrested Person – 5:47 p.m.  A wanted suspect (28-year-old male) was taken into custody for outstanding warrants (violation of domestic abuse injunction, resisting/obstructing and two counts of bail jumping).

CENTRAL: Crash with Injuries – 7:18 pm.  Officers responded to a motor vehicle vs. bicycle crash at University Ave/Frances St.  The driver (56-year-old male) went through a red light and collided with the bicyclist (male).  The bicyclist sustained minor injuries and was conveyed to a local hospital as a pre-caution.  The driver was cited for a red light violation.  Other charges may be forthcoming.    

CENTRAL: Weapons Offense – 9:46 p.m.  Officers responded to W. Gorham St for a disturbance involving a gun.  Multiple subjects involved.  A handgun, ammunition and marijuana were located.  One suspect (28-year-old female) was arrested for armed robbery.  A second suspect (28-year-old male) was arrested for armed robbery (party to a crime).  A third suspect (28-year-old male) was arrested for violating a no contact order. 

NORTH: Check Area/Shots Fired – 12:13 a.m.  Officers responded to Bluejay Lane/Mallard Lane for a report of shots fired.  Area canvassed.  No evidence of shots fired located.   

NORTH: Missing/Runaway Juvenile – 12:30 a.m.  Officers received a report of two missing/runaway juveniles (14-year-old male and 13-year-old male).  Attempt to locate aired.  No safety concerns identified.  The juveniles were entered as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases. 

WEST: Weapons Offense – 3:40 a.m.  Officers responded to the 6900 block of Park Edge Drive for numerous reports of shots fired.  Property damage to a residence, along with shell casings, were located.  No reported injuries at this time.  Incident Report on MPD's website completed.
